HOMILÍA
Hemos comenzado a transitar por el llamado Tiempo Ordinario. Las lecturas que acabamos de escuchar son de su tercer domingo. Un domingo que celebramos en medio del llamado “Octavario de Oración por la Unión de los Cristianos”. Sabemos que la voluntad de Jesús fue que hubiera una sola Iglesia, una sola familia cristiana. Pero, a lo largo de la historia, sus seguidores nos hemos ido dividiendo y hasta nos hemos enfrentado los unos con los otros. Hoy, todos hemos llegado a comprender que debemos recuperar la unidad perdida, rezando y trabajando los unos por los otros, los unos con los otros.
La primera lectura la hemos tomado del profeta Isaías que nos hablaba de cómo, muchas veces, hemos caminado en tinieblas, en tierras y sobras de muerte y necesitamos esa luz que nos viene de Dios para ver claro. Pidamos al Señor que nos conceda el don de la unidad para que crezca, en el corazón de todos, el gozo y la alegría.
La segunda lectura, de San Pablo a los Corintios, nos ha contado cómo, en esa comunidad, había enfrentamientos y divisiones, partidarios de unos u otros evangelizadores. El apóstol les recuerda que todos estamos cimentados sobre la misma base que es Jesús y que los mensajeros, evangelizadores y apóstoles son meros medios e instrumentos para conocerle a él. No puede haber una comunidad cristiana rota, sino unida en el mismo Cristo que murió por todos.
El relato del evangelio de Mateo ha recordado las antiguas palabras del profeta Isaías: “El pueblo que habitaba en tinieblas, vio una luz grande.” Esa luz grande es, como sabemos, Jesús. Cuando fuimos bautizados, el sacerdote les dijo a nuestros padres y padrinos, entregándoles una vela, que el bautismo nos hacía “hijos de la luz.” No lo olvidemos. Pidamos que esa luz ilumine nuestro vivir de cada día.
