Los niños nunca piden permiso para nacer, y si un parto presenta dificultades, la hermana comadrona acude a la llamada sea la hora que sea.
También la Hermana responsable del dispensario está disponible las 24 horas del día, ya que, en cualquier momento se puede presentar un herido u otra urgencia.
Al caer la tarde la comunidad se reencuentra para la lectura espiritual, el rezo de las vísperas, la oración y la cena. Pero la jornada no se da por concluida: Después de una pequeña tertulia, atendemos el centro de alfabetización. Aquí nos ayudan cinco maestros de la escuela católica. El objetivo es enseñar conocimientos básicos y el francés, ya que, aunque es la lengua oficial, sólo es hablado por una minoría en esta región. Hay un centenar de adultos inscritos, pero el cansancio acumulado en el trabajo del campo, y las preocupaciones diarias hacen que no todos terminen el curso. Estamos convencidas de que es importantísimo elevar poco a poco el nivel cultural de la población, ya que les ayudará a ser más libres. Y también a lograr la paz.
Los sábados, estas mismas salas y apatams se utilizan para la catequesis. Un año de pre catecumenado y tres de catequesis preparan a los niños de las familias cristianas para recibir el sacramento del bautismo y la primera comunión.
A veces acuden niños de familias no cristianas. Siempre que sus padres lo autoricen, pueden venir. Este año han recibido el bautismo 2 chavales de 12 años, hijos de padre musulmán y madre cristiana. Esto no es muy habitual, pero nos demuestra que en Costa de Marfil no hay problema entre la gente por ser de distinta religión.
Los domingos visitamos a alguna familia o a algún enfermo.
La gente tiene con nosotras gestos de agradecimiento: nos traen frutos del campo o incluso comida ya preparada, sobre todo los días de fiesta. Esto es un signo de comunión.
Y así es como vivimos en nuestra comunidad y en nuestro pueblo. Cada jornada nos trae su novedad, y como dice el evangelio, a cada día su afán. Siempre lo ordinario puede estar salpicado de pequeñas anécdotas que dan sabor a la vida diaria. Es interesante vivir rodeada de gente de otra cultura. Esto además de enriquecer por la diversidad que aporta ayuda a relativizar cosas incluso de nuestra propia cultura que podemos creer esenciales. Ayudadnos con vuestra oración a hacer vida la petición de Jesucristo: “que sean uno para que el mundo crea”.
