HOMILÍA
En el marco de la Eucaristía de este domingo, diez y siete del tiempo ordinario, en plenas fiestas de nuestro pueblo, en vísperas de la celebración solemne de la conmemoración del Apóstol Santiago, nos hemos reunido aquí en la Iglesia para sumarnos al homenaje debido a nuestros mayores, a todos aquellos que trabajaron, lucharon y se esforzaron por sacar adelante una familia y por contribuir al progreso y al bienestar de toda la sociedad. No nos olvidamos en este día de aquellos que nos dejaron, de quienes han sido llamados a la Casa del Padre Dios; de los que, en años pasados, celebraron estas fiestas con nosotros. En definitiva, hoy hacemos memoria y tributamos homenaje a todos. A todos mostramos nuestra gratitud, por todos rezamos. Para todos son las fiestas que celebramos.
La primera lectura la hemos tomado del primer libro de los Reyes y nos ha recordado un episodio que tuvo como protagonista al Rey Salomón al que se le hace, de parte de Dios, una oferta que todos quisiéramos para nosotros: “Pídeme lo que quieras”. Hemos visto como ese Rey no pidió riquezas ni poder sino, sencillamente, una corazón bueno y sabio para poder gobernar a su pueblo. Nosotros sabemos que a Dios le podemos pedir lo que queramos, que Él es el Padre bueno que siempre escucha nuestra plegaria, que no hace falta marcar prefijos ni tenemos que realizar largas esperas. Solo necesitamos una disposición previa de hablar con Él y poner en sus manos, con confianza, todo aquello que nos hace sufrir y llorar. También, sabemos, que se alegra con nuestras alegrías y gozos más íntimos.
Recemos por nosotros, sí. Pero intercedamos por aquellos que lo necesitan y a los que queremos. Pidamos por todos aquellos de nuestros mayores que hoy reciben el homenaje, la admiración y la gratitud de todos. Como decía San Pablo en la segunda lectura, somos imagen de Jesús y Él nos llama susurrando en nuestros oídos palabras de consuelo, de esperanza, de alegría, de ánimo. Sintamos en este día su presencia cercana y entrañable.
El relato del evangelio nos ha hablado de un tesoro escondido y de una expresión muy querida por Jesús: “Reino de Dios” con la que Él quería decirnos que estamos llamados a construir un mundo en el que todos nos lleguemos a querer como hermanos y en el que Dios sea sentido, experimentado y vivido como ese Padre bueno que nunca nos deja solos, que siempre está a nuestro lado y que nos recibirá un día con los brazos abiertos para hacernos gozar de su misma felicidad. Esa felicidad de la que podemos disfrutar juntos, ya aquí en la tierra, en momentos especiales, como estas fiestas de nuestro pueblo.
