2º DOMINGO DE CUARESMA
(Mt 17,1-9.) Avanzamos en el tiempo de Cuaresma, esta nueva oportunidad que tenemos para cambiar nuestras vidas y convertirnos plenamente al Señor. En el evangelio de hoy tenemos la versión de Mateo del suceso teológico que conocemos como “la Transfiguración”.
Al igual que antes del estreno de cualquier película aparecen pequeños fragmentos que nos anuncian y nos van mostrando el argumento, podríamos decir que la Transfiguración es un prestreno de la Gloria de Dios. La gloria del hijo del hombre es vista por los tres apóstoles que estaban considerados como las tres columnas esenciales de la Iglesia primitiva.
Podría parecer que Jesús quiere hacer un truco mágico y espectacular para demostrar quién es; pero si no lo había hecho en las tentaciones en el desierto…. ¿para qué lo iba a realizar ahora? La intención de la Transfiguración es que los apóstoles puedan ver y comprender quién es el Dios encarnado en Jesús.
No quería Jesús impresionar a esos tres apóstoles: sobre todo porque su trono será más tarde la cruz, y no sería fácilmente comprensible que hoy se manifestara con todo poder, y tiempo después muriera en la cruz sin poder hacer nada para salvarse.
Solamente después de la resurrección vuelve a hacérseles claro que todo lo que Dios es, toda la gloria de Dios, se había hecho visible en el hombre Jesús de Nazaret. Por eso no debían decir nada de esa manifestación hasta que no resucitara… porque ¿quién los iba a creer y cómo iban a comprenderlo? Sólo desde la resurrección de Cristo podía la primitiva comunidad “situar” la escena del evangelio de hoy.
Junto a Jesús, dos hombres importantes: la aparición de Moisés y Elías en ese cuadro catequético se debe a que representan la Ley y los profetas, es decir la Sagrada Escritura entera.
No tengáis miedo, les dijo a los apóstoles y nos vuelve a repetir hoy a nosotros. Pero ya sí que podemos anunciar lo que hemos visto y oído, puesto que Cristo ha resucitado; su transfiguración nos muestra la Gloria de Dios. Somos testigos de ello y nada ni nadie puede alejarnos de esta experiencia.
