VI Domingo de Pascua. Ciclo B
Del mismo modo que el domingo pasado Jesús utilizaba la imagen de la vid para recordarnos que no podemos tener una auténtica vida fuera de Él, ahora vuelve a repetirnos la misma idea: Hemos de permanecer en Cristo, hemos de seguir los mandamientos de Dios.
Sin embargo en estas líneas descubrimos algo diferente: Jesús quería quedar muy claro que cumplir los mandamientos no es una losa pesada que se impone al hombre; el mandamiento que propone Jesús es el amor; amaos unos a otros como yo os he amado. Y eso reporta alegría y felicidad, todo lo contrario a vivir pendientes de multitud de normas que alejadas del amor no tienen sentido alguno.
Amar de una manera distinta a lo que estamos acostumbrados. Es cierto que tenemos cariño a los que nos rodean, incluso amamos a nuestra familia, hijos, esposo o esposa… ¿Pero es ése el amor del que nos habla Jesús? ¿Amor sólo a los que tenemos cerca? Nadie tiene más amor que el que da la vida por sus amigos. Y Jesús dio la vida por todos los hombres. Amar sin condiciones, sin excusas, sin tiempo, con generosidad y a todos por igual, tanto a los que están cerca, como a los que tenemos lejos. Eso es el amor del que nos habla Jesús, y sólo ese amor nos reportará felicidad.
Somos amigos de Jesús porque hemos tenido la dicha de conocer su mensaje, pero también la gran responsabilidad de intentar cumplir su único mandamiento: el amor; no somos sus siervos, sus esclavos, somos amigos de Jesús; y Él ha confiado en nosotros hasta tal punto que todo lo que sabía de su Padre nos lo ha dado a conocer. Somos privilegiados en ese sentido. Pero no porque hayamos querido ser seguidores de Jesús.
El verdadero discípulo es el que se siente llamado, no por sus propios méritos, sino por iniciativa divina; ha sido Él quien ha salido en busca nuestra, quien quiso dar el paso para acercarse el encontradizo con nosotros y explicarnos todo lo referente a Él en las Escrituras. Agradecidos y afortunados por haber sido elegidos por Cristo, tenemos la grave responsabilidad de ser sus testigos cumpliendo lo único que nos ha mandado: amarnos unos a otros como Él nos ha amado.
Demos el fruto que se espera de nosotros; un fruto que dure y que permanezca, el fruto de llenar nuestro mundo, nuestra sociedad o nuestra familia con el auténtico y verdadero amor que sólo procede de Dios.
