Amarrados a Cristo y unidos a Él de tal manera que su sabia y su vida fluya por nuestra propia sangre. Es la idea que sugiere este evangelio de San Juan. La alegría de la Pascua inunda nuestros corazones y estas líneas de la Palabra de Dios nos recuerdan la importancia de permanecer unidos a Cristo, la verdadera vid.
Jesús quería dejar claro a sus apóstoles que no pueden olvidar de dónde viene la fuerza que les capacitaba para anunciar más tarde la buena noticia de la salvación; lejos de la vid, el sarmiento se seca, puesto que no corre en su interior la vida verdadera y la sabia que refresca y da fruto.
La vida es Cristo, decía San Pablo; palabras que podríamos hacer nuestras a raíz de este evangelio que leemos hoy; unidos firmemente al Resucitado, podremos ser un signo visible y eficaz en el mundo que nos ha tocado vivir, anunciando la alegría de ser cristiano y la vida eterna a la que aspiramos, junto a Dios.
Olvidar hoy día nuestra raíz, que es Cristo, el fundamento de nuestra vida espiritual, sería predicar una teoría vacía de vivencia. Necesitamos testigos fieles de Jesús, que con valentía y coraje, podamos ofrecer un camino de felicidad a los que nos rodean; ese camino es Cristo y esa vida sólo nos la puede regalar Él con su muerte y su resurrección.
Leer y rumiar las palabras de Jesús, para enamorarnos de Él cada día un poco más es una tarea ineludible y necesaria; sólo amamos lo que conocemos y sólo podemos amar a Jesús si estamos dispuestos a seguirle con todas las consecuencias. La imagen que nos propone Juan en estas líneas evangélicas es sentirnos unidos a Jesús de tal forma que no podamos separarnos de Él, pero porque le amamos y porque estamos convencidos de que su Evangelio es vida.
Si no damos fruto seremos arrancados de la vid, si nos separamos de él no tendremos vida en nosotros; unidos a Cristo para siempre seremos esa sabia que nuestra sociedad necesita para creer que es posible la justicia y la solidaridad aquí y ahora, no posponiendo lo que debemos hacer para un futuro, porque el futuro es el ahora.
Cristo es la vid y nosotros los sarmientos; sólo él es nuestro fundamento, no lo olvidemos nunca.
