Podría parecer que hoy Jesús es especialmente exigente por pedirle creer a Pedro, nada más y nada menos, que se puede caminar sobre las aguas. “¡Qué poca fe!”, parece recriminarle. Sin embargo, esta manera de interpretar el Evangelio es más propia de un aficionado al esoterismo y a lo paranormal que de un creyente en Cristo.
Pedro se hunde, precisamente, cuando su fe deja de estar anclada en Jesús y se desvía hacia el hecho extraordinario de estar caminando sobre el agua.
No siempre nos resulta fácil reconocer la presencia de Dios en nuestra vida, como nos recuerda el episodio de Elías. A veces le buscamos en grandes o extraordinarios acontecimientos y por eso no le encontramos. Pero algo tan sencillo y discreto como la oración personal puede transformarnos hasta el punto de hacernos olvidar el miedo a lo que hay bajo nuestros pies, dejándolo todo en manos de Dios.
