Manifiesto 2012
Manos Unidas, ONG para el desarrollo, de la Iglesia católica, que desde hace 52 años lucha contra el hambre y la pobreza en el mundo y por el desarrollo de los pueblos empobrecidos, inicia ahora su Campaña LIII con el lema: “La salud derecho de todos. ¡Actúa!. El desarrollo y la salud están estrechamente vinculados, razón por la cual Manos Unidas aborda este año el problema de las enfermedades comprendidas en el ODM 6: “Combatir el VIH/Sida, la malaria y otras enfermedades”.
DENUNCIAMOS
– Que el aumento de los casos de malaria, sida y tuberculosis en países en desarrollo se debe, no sólo a la crisis económica, sino a una crisis de valores que provoca la falta de solidaridad, condiciones de vida precarias, el colapso de los sistemas sanitarios, el deterioro medioambiental, el aumento de los refugiados por causa de los conflictos armados etc.
– El derecho a la salud se hace depender de la capacidad adquisitiva de los que enferman, por eso las llamadas enfermedades olvidadas son especialmente virulentas entre los más pobres.
– Que en el año 2009, había 33´3 millones de personas infectadas por el VIH/Sida, de las cuales, 22´6 millones vivían en África subsahariana.
– Que el número de mujeres infectadas por el VIH/Sida triplica al de los hombres, porque son más vulnerables y están más desprotegidas.
– Que el 97% de las muertes por enfermedades infecciosas, 15 millones de personas cada año, tiene lugar en los países en desarrollo.
– Que la enfermedad se ha convertido en un negocio multimillonario que provoca que la investigación esté centrada en las enfermedades de los países ricos.
