HOMILÍA
En estos días pasados, hemos contemplado a un Jesús recién nacido, visitado por los pastores y adorado por los magos de oriente. Pero, hoy, damos un salto en el tiempo. El Jesús niño se ha convertido ya en una persona adulta. Atrás han quedado los años de la infancia, de la adolescencia y de la juventud, años en los que nadie pareció notar nada extraordinario. Fue uno más entre los habitantes de aquel pequeño pueblo de Nazaret pero, en un momento determinado, Él supo que debía ponerse en camino y comenzar una aventura que durará tres años y en los que anunciará, a propios y extraños, una Buena Noticia; realizará milagros, dará a conocer enseñanzas sublimes, hablará de un Padre Dios y de un Reino que, entre todos, debemos construir.
Hoy lo hemos visto acercarse al río Jordán donde Juan el Bautista está preparando a la gente para su venida con palabras que llaman a la conversión y al cambio de vida. Y allí es bautizado y se produce una manifestación del Padre y una venida del Espíritu Santo que parecen poner de relieve la importancia del momento que está teniendo lugar. El bautismo de Jesús es un hecho crucial que divide en dos su vida. Antes, es una persona más entre los suyos. Después, la gente lo verá con ojos nuevos, escuchará sus palabras con asombro y admiración, los milagros saldrán de sus manos para sanar, para curar, para mostrar el amor misericordioso y bondadoso del Padre Dios. Un día, sus palabras y sus hechos le llevarán a la cruz y a la muerte pero el final de la historia, como sabemos, hablará de resurrección y de vida.
El Jesús que se manifestó a los pastores y a los magos, se manifiesta ahora al comenzar su vida pública. Reflexionemos sobre este momento, recreemos la escena que el evangelista san Marcos nos ha contado, recordemos al austero Juan el Bautista que, con temor y temblor, sabiéndose pequeño e indigno incluso de desatar la correa de sus sandalias, bautiza con agua al que está llamado a bautizar con Espíritu Santo. Y, después, pensemos en nuestro propio bautismo. Nosotros fuimos bautizados en el nombre de Jesús e incorporados así a la familia de los cristianos, a la Iglesia. No fuimos conscientes entonces, es verdad, de lo que estaba teniendo lugar.
Por eso, es bueno que, de vez en cuando, en privado y en público, recordemos nuestro bautismo, aceptemos los compromisos bautismales que nuestros padres, padrinos, familiares y toda la comunidad cristiana aceptaron por nosotros aquel día. Y que, en consecuencia, vivamos como lo que el bautismo nos hizo: hijos de Dios, miembros de la Iglesia, hermanos de todos los hombres. Convirtámonos en cristianos conscientes y comprometidos, orgullosos de su fe, servidores de todos, con el signo distintivo del amor por bandera. Recitemos juntos el credo
