HOMILÍA
Poco a poco, han ido pasando las grandes fiestas del tiempo de Navidad. Hemos visto y adorado al Niño de Belén. Nos han visitado amigos y familiares. Hemos compartido mesa y mantel con seres queridos que nos han hecho sentir que nuestra familia es más grande que los que, habitualmente, vivimos en casa. También ha habido quienes, en estos días, han sufrido, con más fuerza si cabe, la ausencia de quienes, otros años, celebraban con ellos la navidad. Hoy la Iglesia nos invita a dar un salto en el tiempo; a dejar de ver a un Jesús recién nacido para contemplarlo ya adulto, dispuesto a emprender la aventura de su vida pública. El bautismo de Jesús marca el final de una etapa en la que Jesús ha vivido oculto en Nazaret y abre otra en la que se van a suceder los milagros y las parábolas y los grandes acontecimientos de su Pasión, de su muerte en la Cruz y de su Resurrección.
La primera lectura la hemos tomado del profeta Isaías. Él parece referirse a un misterioso personaje que recibe el nombre de “Siervo de Yavé, de siervo de Dios.” Lo que el profeta dice de él, se podría atribuir al Jesús que comienza su vida pública. Como ese Siervo de Yavé, Jesús es el elegido, el preferido por el Padre Dios. Como él, traerá el derecho y la justicia a las naciones. No usará la violencia. Cómo él, será luz de los pueblos, abrirá los ojos de los ciegos y será el libertador de todos aquellos que viven en la prisión de sus propios pecados. Jesús va a comenzar su misión. También a cada uno de nosotros el Padre Dios nos ha encargado una misión al llamarnos a este mundo. Y la nuestra no puede ser muy distinta de la del propio Jesús. Pensemos cuál es la tarea que tenemos encomendada. Seguro que, a poco que pensemos, descubriremos lo que Dios espera de nosotros.
La segunda lectura, de los Hechos de los Apóstoles, contiene una frase que ojala se pudiera decir de cada uno de nosotros: “Pasó por la vida haciendo el bien.” De Jesús ya sabemos que fue así. Pero ¿Se podría decir lo mismo de nosotros? Hagamos todo lo posible para que este epitafio describa nuestra vida de cristianos. Pasar haciendo el bien es la mejor forma de pasar, de vivir, de estar en este mundo.
El relato del evangelio de San Lucas nos ha recordado el hecho central que hoy celebramos: el Bautismo de Jesús por Juan el Bautista. Juan reconoce la grandeza y la supremacía de Jesús y la diferencia del bautismo que ambos administran. Nosotros fuimos bautizados en el nombre de Jesús. Nuestro bautismo fue “con Espíritu Santo y fuego.” ¿Recordamos a menudo el hecho de nuestro bautismo? ¿Conocemos el lugar y la fecha? ¿Lo celebramos? Es bueno festejar nuestro nacimiento, el cumpleaños, pero también sería bueno que celebráramos el día en el que nacimos para Dios y entramos a formar parte de la Iglesia.
