Las Escrituras de hoy nos enseñan a poner nuestra atención en Dios y no en las fuerzas que nos amenazan. En la primera lectura, Elías, siendo un hombre de oración, no se dejó confundir por el huracán, ni por el fuego ni por el terremoto. Supo descubrir más bien a Dios en la tenue brisa. En el Evangelio, los discípulos, no supieron reconocer a Jesús que caminaba sobre el lago. ¿Por qué les costaba tanto entender si Jesús había hecho el milagro del pan y los peces ese mismo día? Esa falta de confianza en Jesús resulta en una vida llena de miedos.
Pedro demostró una gran fe al salir de la barca para caminar sobre el agua hacia Jesús. –Pero pronto comenzó a hundirse. ¿Que ocurrió? Al sentir de repente el azote del viento, quitó los ojos de Jesús y se fijó en su propia incapacidad ante olas. –Tanto Jesús como las olas son realidad. Pero Jesús es la realidad SUPREMA. –Pedro olvidó la realidad suprema (Jesús) y se encerró en una realidad secundaria (la tempestad). –Miró a la criatura y se olvidó del creador. ¿Como podemos evitar ese gran error? Orar –Para saber como actuar en cada caso es necesario ser orantes como Elías y Jesucristo, quien estaba largo tiempo solo con su Padre. –Solo quien ora conoce a Dios. Luchar con los recursos que Dios nos da -Jesús permitió que los discípulos lucharan toda la noche. – Hace falta luchar como soldados disciplinados y obedientes bajo las órdenes de su capitán, porque saben que pueden confiar en El.
El cristiano no ignora las dificultades reales, mas bien las enfrenta, pero sometiéndose en cada paso a la guía del Señor. –El Señor nos enseñará como resolver los problemas o nos dará la gracia para llevar nuestra cruz. –Es el ejemplo que nos da San Pablo en la segunda lectura. Aquel día Jesús había enseñado a los discípulos que El tiene poder de hacer milagros con el pan. Esa noche les enseñó que tiene poder para hacer milagros con Su Cuerpo. Así les preparó para que creyeran en el gran milagro que es la Eucaristía: El pan se convierte en su Cuerpo. –Estará siempre con nosotros en todas las batallas, pero solo lo reconocerán los que por la fe ponen en El toda la atención y confianza.
