LOS ÍDOLOS
Querido amigo:
Déjame compartir contigo algunas inquietudes y preocupaciones que siento en este tiempo de cuaresma. Todos sabemos cómo Jesús fue llevado al desierto y allí sintió las tentaciones y la respuesta que dio al enemigo: “Al Señor tu Dios adorarás, y sólo a Él servirás” (Mt 4,10).
También nosotros, en esta sociedad materialista y consumista, estamos inclinados a dar culto a los ídolos. Pero te pregunto y me pregunto, ¿Somos conscientes que los ídolos roban nuestro amor y nos ciegan al amor? ¿Estamos dispuestos a asumir el mandato del Éxodo (20,3), cuando nos dice: “No tendrás otros dioses antes que a mí”?
Pero, ¿qué es un “dios” en el plano existencial? Es lo que está en el centro de la vida y de lo que uno depende y piensa. Hoy, vivimos en un mundo que ofrece en el “supermercado” de la vida, toda clase de ídolos, que pueden ser objetos, imágenes, ideas y roles diferentes.
El ídolo, al que damos culto, puede convertirse en una obsesión que proyectamos de cada uno de nosotros en el ser y el hacer de nuestras vidas. Donde nos postramos y sacrificamos todo por darle culto.
Amigo, los ídolos prometen vida, pero en realidad la quitan. Prometen felicidad, pero engendran esclavitud. Ofrecen alegría, pero traen tristeza. Y nos encontramos viviendo para esa cosa o esa visión, atrapados en una vorágine autodestructiva, esperando un resultado que nunca llega. La fama exige la inmolación de uno mismo, donde el dinero roba la vida y el placer conduce a la soledad.
El verdadero Dios no pregunta por la vida sino que la da, la regala. No ofrece una proyección de nuestro éxito, pero nos enseña a amar. Nos enseña a vivir en la realidad de cada día, con entrega generosa al prójimo y adorándole como Padre de toda criatura.
No te quiero entretener más, pero te invito a que en este tiempo de cuaresma, nos dejemos interrogar: ¿Cuántos ídolos tenemos o cuáles son los favoritos? Los ídolos roban nuestro amor, nos ciegan al amor y, para amar verdaderamente, debemos ser libres de ídolos.
