Estimados hermanos en el Señor:
Cada año, en la solemnidad de la Asunción de la Virgen María, renovamos nuestro agradecimiento por el importante patrimonio histórico, artístico y documental que hemos recibido, y recordamos nuestra responsabilidad para que siga cumpliendo su función como expresión de fe y manifestación de cultura religiosa.
A lo largo de los siglos han surgido bienes muebles, inmuebles y documentales que se siguen utilizando para el culto, la evangelización y la difusión de la cultura.
Es un patrimonio variado que tiene una finalidad religiosa. Se trata de obras artísticas surgidas para vivir y celebrar la fe y son un instrumento extraordinario para evangelizar a cuantos las contemplan. Obras que tienen una finalidad litúrgica, evangelizadora y pastoral y están abiertas a la contemplación y al estudio.
La Diócesis de Jaca tiene la obligación de conservar, consolidar e incrementar el patrimonio. El arte tiene un valor en sí mismo y, cuando lo contemplamos, nos abrimos a la trascendencia. El arte religioso, como lenguaje y por su belleza, está al servicio de la misión y de la vida de la Iglesia.
Mantener, custodiar, restaurar y afianzar nuestro patrimonio, especialmente nuestros templos, requiere la generosa colaboración de todos. El espacio de nuestras celebraciones debe ser digno, acogedor y seguro. La colecta que realizamos hoy se destina en su integridad a este objetivo.

Que la Santísima Virgen, a quien hoy celebramos en la belleza de su Asunción, interceda por nosotros y nos haga valorar el esplendor que se manifiesta en el arte de nuestro patrimonio.
