CUARESMA 2014
DESPERTARNOS DE LA ANESTESIA
Queridos amigos:
En nuestras conversaciones diarias, en su contenido, solemos decir: “esto es nuevo, esto es viejo” con mucha facilidad.
La Cuaresma nos invita a salir de la rutina en el ser – hacer y a trabajar por convertir lo viejo–rutinario en novedad amada. En estos días en que escuchamos voces tan controvertidas unas y tan divergentes otras, es necesario ser conscientes de la “urgencia de escuchar la voz de Cristo” para poder llegar a romper la monotonía diaria y cambiar nuestra manera de vivir.
Es urgente creer en el Evangelio, ¿para qué? Para romper con el peligro de la inercia, de la rutina, de una vida en la que nada nos asombra y en la que vivimos con demasiada normalidad las noticias de injusticia y violencia. Corremos el riesgo de acostumbrarnos a la pobreza y la miseria de tantas personas que nos rodean por las calles. Nos acostumbramos a vivir en una sociedad indiferente ante el hecho religioso, que cree que este hecho es algo del pasado y no afecta a las personas de hoy.
Hoy la indiferencia y el acostumbrarse nos anestesian. No dejamos paso a la sorpresa del desafío y a la apertura de lo Trascendente.
En la Cuaresma que comenzamos se nos hace una llamada a despertar, a hacernos conscientes de lo que vivimos, a abrirnos a las sorpresas del otro, a acoger a Dios en nuestras vidas y a romper con la autosuficiencia. Es urgente, al comienzo de este tiempo cuaresmal retomar el camino hacia el “hombre nuevo”, que es el hombre convertido a Dios.
Convertirnos nos exige leer y vivir la “alegría del evangelio” como buena noticia para el hombre de nuestro tiempo. Esta noticia a su vez reclama de cada uno de nosotros una respuesta: levantarnos de la indiferencia y comodidad.
Convertirnos es sentir el regalo de Dios a una nueva vida que renace del “agua del Espíritu” por la transformación íntima de nuestro corazón. Lo “viejo pasó, todo se ha hecho nuevo” (2 Cor 5,17).
Convertirnos, es preguntarnos como el salmista, “¿Qué es el hombre…?” y contestaremos con obras y palabras: es dignidad, hijo de Dios, hermano del prójimo, señor de las cosas.
La Cuaresma es tiempo de conversión y de creer en el Evangelio. ¿Cómo se hace esto? Con la escucha silenciosa y acogedora de la Palabra de Dios, con el corazón abierto a quien no cuenta en la sociedad, rompiendo con el aburguesamiento asfixiante que nos conduce al vacío.
La Cuaresma es tiempo de liberación, tiempo de promover un hombre nuevo en Cristo. Esto debe constituir la gran tarea y esfuerzo personal de todos, si de verdad nos queremos preparar a vivir la Pascua del Señor.
