Queridos hermanos en el Señor:
Os deseo gracia y paz.
Se aproxima el plazo de preinscripción para el próximo curso. Se trata de un momento decisivo en el que los padres deben decidir la orientación que desean dar a la educación de sus hijos.
En este proceso de discernimiento no se debe olvidar la importancia de la Religión y Moral Católica para una educación integral.
La oferta de la enseñanza de la Religión y Moral Católica es obligatoria para los centros y de carácter voluntario para los alumnos. La educación religiosa y moral contribuye a formar personas de calidad, respetuosas, íntegras, comprometidas, con valores, con identidad propia, personas autónomas en sus decisiones, con capacidad de iniciativa en y para la vida.
En lo más profundo de cada uno de nosotros hay un deseo de plenitud. Una gran esperanza nos ilumina y nos anima. Y la verdadera plenitud de la vida se encuentra solamente en Jesucristo. Por eso, es muy importante conocerle, escucharle. Porque en Jesucristo encontramos razones para vivir, para creer, para vivir en actitud esperanzada y para amar.
El Papa Benedicto XVI dijo el 24 de abril de 2005, en la homilía de inauguración de su Pontificado: “Quien deja entrar a Cristo en su vida no pierde nada, absolutamente nada, de lo que hace la vida libre, bella y grande. Sólo con esta amistad se abren las puertas dela vida. Sólo con esta amistad se abren realmente las grandes potencialidades de la condición humana. Sólo con esta amistad experimentamos lo que es bello y lo que nos libera. Él no quita nada y lo da todo... Nada más bello que conocerle y comunicar a los otros la amistad con él”.
En su encíclica “Spe Salvi” Benedicto XVI afirma que el “elemento distintivo de los cristianos” es “el hecho de que ellos tienen un futuro, saben que su vida, en conjunto, no acaba en el vacío. El Evangelio no es solamente una comunicación de cosas que se pueden saber, sino una comunicación que comporta hechos y cambiala vida. Lapuerta oscura del tiempo, del futuro, ha sido abierta de par en par. Quien tiene esperanza vive de otra manera; se le ha dado una vida nueva” (nº 2).
La clase de Religión contribuye a formar al estudiante armónicamente, en todas sus dimensiones –humana, social y trascendente–, para que llegue a ser una persona íntegra, libre, unificada, responsable y comprometida.
Benedicto XVI nos dice: “No tenemos que pensar que se trata de un paquete de reglas, que cargamos sobre los hombros como una mochila pesada en el camino dela vida. Alfinal la fe es sencilla y rica: ¿creemos que Dios existe, que Dios cuenta? ¿Pero de qué Dios hablamos? Un Dios con un rostro, un rostro humano, un Dios que reconcilia, que vence el odio y da esa fuerza de la paz que nadie más puede dar. Necesitamos dar a entender que en realidad el cristianismo es muy sencillo y por consiguiente muy rico”.
La clase de Religión y Moral Católica no resuelve todos los problemas, pero ayuda a afrontarlos con una nueva luz y una capacidad que procede del encuentro con Jesucristo, que nos sigue diciendo: “Yo soy el camino, y la verdad y la vida” (Jn 14,5).
