Este día celebramos el Día de los Catequistas Nativos
y del Instituto Español de Misiones Extranjeras (IEME)
«Los misioneros del IEME sabemos por experiencia el valor que tienen estos catequistas nativos o también llamados líderes de comunidades, a veces también llamados delegados o delegadas de la Palabra.
En muchos rincones se hace inaccesible para el misionero extranjero llegar a lugares o ambientes específicos si no hay alguien de la tierra, conocedor de la cultura, la lengua y el territorio, la realidad concreta.
En muchos lugares son traductores de la Palabra que se predica, amigos o compañeros de fatigas y alegrías de los misioneros, pero también son la familia primera que se tiene. Los catequistas nativos son una necesidad para que la Palabra de Dios cuaje en el terreno en el que se ha sembrado.
Este año, con el lema de «Catequistas nativos, testigos de la fe y de la caridad» quiere subrayar la dimensión creyente y fiel de estos y estas catequistas, que muchas veces y en medio de situaciones duras y difíciles, han mantenido una fe responsable y alentadora de sus comunidades. Puestos al servicio de la comunidad velan por ella y sus necesidades y están siempre con una disponibilidad enorme. Aman a la Iglesia, la defienden y la realizan en el espacio en el que viven. Son una verdadera estrella de la fe y la caridad. Recordarlos en este día para orar, para rezar y para ayudarles, nos es debido si es que somos agradecidos.» (Revista ID - Dic/13.)
