- – El evangelio y la Ley.
El Sermón del Monte no es Ley sino Evangelio. Esta es la diferencia entre la Ley y el Evangelio: la Ley deja a la persona con sus propias fuerzas, le pone preceptos que ha de esforzarse en cumplir, le amenaza, le premia, le exige esforzarse…; el Evangelio la coloca ante el don de Dios, le hace conocer a un Padre, le convierte en hijo, lo cambia por dentro… y ya no tiene que mandarle nada. El observante de la ley vive pendiente de la ley y pregunta por las obras que hay que hacer, cuándo y cómo las tiene que hacer. El que vive la gracia del evangelio no pregunta por las obras que hay que hacer porque antes de que se lo pregunten ya están hechas, porque se ha adelantado el amor. El que vive bajo la ley es un esclavo, El que vive en la gracia es un hombre libre. La ley de Jesús fue ésta: «Yo hago siempre lo que al Padre le agrada».
- – «No he venido a abolir la Ley y los profetas, sino a dar plenitud».
La plenitud de la Ley es el amor. (Ro. 13,8). El que no ama no puede cumplir ninguna ley cristiana. Y toda ley cristiana tiene que ser vehículo y expresión del amor. «La fe cristiana, poniendo el amor en el centro, ha asumido lo que era el núcleo de la fe de Israel, dándole al mismo tiempo una nueva profundidad y amplitud» (Deus Caritas est, nº 1l). Aquel que no mata, cumple la Ley, pero si no arranca de su corazón la agresividad hacia su hermano, no se parece a Dios. Aquel que no comete adulterio, cumple la Ley, pero si desea egoístamente la esposa de su hermano, no se asemeja a Dios. En estas personas reina la Ley, pero no Dios; son observantes, pero no saben amar; viven correctamente, pero no construirán un mundo más humano. En definitiva, pueden ser buenos judíos, pero son malos cristianos.
- – Se puede matar de muchas maneras.
Con los ojos. Hay miradas que matan… Con la lengua. La Biblia dice que es como una espada de doble filo… De hecho, con las palabras herimos a las personas, las despellejamos… Con el corazón. Cuando tenemos odio por dentro… Las plantas crecen con el sol y la lluvia. Las personas con el amor… Uno está muerto cuando ni ama ni es amado por nadie. «El que no ama es un cadáver». (1ª Juan 3,14). Y se mata también no dando de comer a los que pasan hambre… Dios ha puesto los dones de este mundo para todos… Manos Unidas nos acerca esa triste realidad de tantos niños que mueren por no tener comida.
