“No enseñaba como los escribas, sino con autoridad”. Si en los domingos anteriores contemplábamos la realidad del bautismo, a partir de hoy, en nuestro camino con Jesús hacia Jerusalén, todavía con la luz de la Epifanía que busca ser cirio de la Pascua, constatamos que Jesús dice y hace. Es lo que tiene ser la Palabra Eterna del Padre: es ser palabra eficaz. Jesucristo, Logos/Creador, origen y meta, ha entrado en la historia y se ocupa de organizar el reino y de enseñarnos a nosotros a ser su reino, ordenando las realidades temporales hacia quien merece toda la gloria. Dar a Dios la gloria que le corresponde es ofrecer el culto propio de los que somos realmente sacerdotes por el bautismo.
Hoy vemos cómo su reino tiene mucho que ver con la curación de las enfermedades. Cristo, que quiere ser nuestro salvador, cura a la humanidad que se desangra por mil heridas. Todas nuestras enfermedades y las enfermedades de todos los seres humanos de toda la historia están representadas en este endemoniado o en aquel leproso y en todos los enfermos que cura a su paso. La misión de Jesucristo no consiste en realizar un diagnóstico ni en analizar una realidad social ni en dictar una solución teórica más o menos ajustada. La misión de Jesucristo es curar. Ni más ni menos: curar. Los intentos de Dios Padre de atraer con lazos de amor a su pueblo, mostrándoles un camino, habían resultado insuficientes, pues la ley no cura, sino que, en todo caso, condena. Su fuerza radica en el castigo, pero es incapaz de transmitir fuerza de vida. Dios Padre con Dios Hijo Encarnado salvan esta situación de endurecimiento de los corazones y, así, a “este pueblo que habitaba en tinieblas, una luz les brilló”. Ahora, si él le dice a lo que te atormenta “cállate y sal de él”, ese espíritu inmundo sale y desaparece, aunque en su huida te retuerza.
La iglesia, en cuanto que no tiene otra misión que la de Jesucristo, participa de este poder y lo hace con un modo propio que es la sacramentalidad. Ser sacramento y dispensar los sacramentos no es disfrutar de una mera potestad, que, como todas, puede tornarse funcionarial y despótica. No es tener un conocimiento y un poder como el de los escribas. Ser sacramento es poseer potestad y autoridad. Esta última sólo se otorga a los que obran sin doblez, con rectitud de intención, sabiendo que para reconciliar, hay que estar reconciliado.
Nunca ha sido suficiente y hoy, tampoco. La palabra que no es confirmada por los signos es una palabra irrelevante o falaz. La iglesia de la palabra y de los sacramentos debe transparentar los signos de la fe: el amor de los hermanos, la comunidad. Con frecuencia, en la iglesia católica, nos dedicamos a destruirnos. Vemos al hermano como Caín vio a Abel. Al hermano o al obispo o al voluntario de Cáritas o al miembro de un apostolado jerárquico o al de un nuevo movimiento. Entonces la iglesia se separa de su cabeza. Adiós, autoridad.
