SOLEMNIDAD DE CRISTO REY
(Mt 25,31-46) Culminamos hoy el año litúrgico; último domingo de un tiempo en el que intensamente hemos intentado descubrir la presencia de Cristo en nuestras vidas. Y lo hacemos con la fiesta de Cristo como Rey del universo. Una realeza que no se parece a ninguna realeza humana, a ninguna forma de poder temporal.
Cristo no vino a dominar, sino a servir, Cristo no vino a explotar, sino a amar a todos por igual; él tiene ejércitos; sólo su pobreza es la defensa y sus armas frente al egoísmo del mundo. Y en eso consiste el juicio que presenta Mateo en el evangelio.
Sólo tiene un lugar reservado en el Reino para aquellos que han amado, aquellos que han vivido la caridad: “os aseguro que cada vez que lo hicisteis con uno de estos mis humildes hermanos, conmigo lo hicisteis”; si queremos formar parte de su reino hemos de amar, hemos de seguir el camino que Jesús nos propone.
Basta con observar nuestro entorno: nuestra familia, nuestros vecinos, compañeros de trabajo, las personas con las que me cruzo a diario. Y descubrir a las personas que nos necesitan. Necesitamos tener una mirada evangélica para poder vivir y trabajar ya desde ahora en el Reino de Dios y para el Reino de Dios; el mensaje de Jesús es claro y fácil de entender.
Cristo es el Rey, como dice San Agustín; pero no para exigir un tributo, o para mandar un ejército con el que enfrentarse a sus enemigos; no, Él es el Rey; porque dirige los espíritus y los orienta hacia la eternidad; Jesús se nos ofrece para ser nuestro Pastor, nuestro Rey. Un rey que ama, que juzga con misericordia y justicia: ¿me amaste en tu vida? ¿te encontraste conmigo y te pusiste al servicio de tus hermanos?
Pero su Reino no es de este mundo; no se asemeja a lo que la sociedad nos ofrece como el poder, la riqueza, la sabiduría…Su reino consiste en llevar a plenitud la vida eterna que nos ha prometido el Padre; su Reino es justicia y paz, su reino es amor.
Tuvimos hambre y Él nos dio alimento eterno; tuvimos sed y nos ofreció su sangre; estuvimos desnudos y nos revistió de la gloria de los hijos de Dios; estuvimos enfermos y vino a curarnos del pecado; estuvimos en la cárcel de nuestro egoísmo y nos liberó de nuestras propias ataduras…Ahora nos toca a nosotros hacer lo mismo; nos toca liberar, alimentar, vestir, visitar a los que nos rodean.
Cristo es Rey, para eso ha venido al mundo, para instaurar su Reino, pero nosotros tenemos que colaborar a que llegue a su plenitud.
