Cuarenta días en los que la Iglesia nos revela lenta y progresivamente la realidad y el acontecimiento de la Pascua. Cuarenta días que son tiempo de penitencia, de preparación para un bautismo de agua y Espíritu. Cuarenta días que, conforme se acercan al Triduo Pascual, nos muestran los dolores de Cristo, en el amor de la ofrenda y con la seguridad de la Resurrección.
Cuarenta días, cuando parece que quiere despertar la primavera, en los que comparece la fragilidad de la vida y la necesidad de todo tipo de cuidados para que no se frustre. Cuarenta días en los que se nos presenta el ideal cristiano que nos mostró el Salvador, la certidumbre de nuestra vocación, el trabajo y los sufrimientos que acarrea nuestra condición limitada, y que, una y otra vez, se deja arrastrar por la aspiración soberbia de sentirse autosuficiente. Cuarenta días de paradoja cristiana, donde morir es vivir y sufrir, reinar. Cuarenta días en que la Iglesia nos ofrece unos medios para acercarnos a la reconciliación. Unos, que preparan la tierra, fertilizándola: la oración, el ayuno, la limosna. Otros que son la semilla que ha de fructificar: la Palabra de Dios, el Bautismo, la Penitencia, la Eucaristía. Cuarenta días de fe práctica, caridad desinteresada y esperanza perseverante.
Cuarenta días de desierto. Jesús se dejó tentar. Nosotros somos tentados. Con Adán, nosotros fuimos expulsados al desierto. Cristo, empujado, urgido por el Espíritu, viene al desierto, porque sabía dónde encontrar al condenado para llevarlo al paraíso. Es frecuente que nos fijemos en que Cristo fue tentado. Nos consuela… si Él fue tentado, parece que la tentación no es algo tan catastrófico. Pero, ¿por qué no ponemos nuestra atención en que venció? Sacramentalmente estamos unidos al Señor: podemos reconocernos tentados en Él; y también, ¡vencedores en Él! ¿Por qué venció Jesús? Recuerdo el salmo 60: “Afianzó mis pies sobre la roca…”. Hoy nuestra roca es Cristo y nuestra piedra es Pedro. Hoy nuestra fuerza está en la Iglesia. No la iglesia mundana de mirada plana, sino la Iglesia de Jesús mártir y de los mártires: la Iglesia Victoriosa, Triunfante.
Esta victoria es el “nuevo rito”, el “nuevo testamento”, la “nueva alianza”: es Dios quien nos saca del Egipto del pecado, nos guía por el desierto, librándonos de peligros naturales y sobrenaturales, nos lleva a la nueva tierra de promisión. María no se perdió ninguno de estos pasos del nuevo éxodo. Dale la mano y camina con ella.
