HOMILÍA
La Palabra de Dios viene hasta nosotros a través de las lecturas de los textos bíblicos que acabamos de escuchar. Bueno es que le prestemos atención, que meditemos sobre ella, que nos preguntemos qué es lo que el Padre Dios nos está diciendo a todos y a cada uno de nosotros. Es una Palabra que llega a nuestras vidas cuando hemos salido del estado de alarma pero en un tiempo en el que seguimos siendo llamados a la prudencia y a la responsabilidad. Por los demás y por nosotros mismos pongamos en práctica las medidas sanitarias prescritas por las autoridades. El Señor quiere que cuidemos nuestra salud y la de aquellos que caminan a nuestro lado.
La primera lectura la hemos tomado del segundo libro de los Reyes, en tiempos del profeta Eliseo. Nos ha contado una pequeña historia en la que se nos habla de la hospitalidad y de la acogida propias de aquella época. El corazón se abre ante el necesitado y se va, incluso, más allá de lo imprescindible. Una hospitalidad y una acogida que, en su momento, se ve premiada con el cumplimiento de un deseo: la promesa del nacimiento de un niño que colmará la felicidad de esa pareja que acepta en su casa al profeta Eliseo. ¡Cuántas ocasiones tenemos nosotros de ejercer la hospitalidad y la acogida con tantas personas que llegan hasta nosotros! Hagámoslo con obras y de verdad.
La segunda lectura, de San Pablo a los cristianos de Roma, nos ha enseñado que los bautizados debemos estar dispuestos a recorrer un camino nuevo, una vida nueva. Que hemos muerto al pecado y al mal para resucitar a una existencia lo más parecida posible a la de Jesús. Un Jesús que muere y resucita y que, si nosotros morimos con él, viviremos también en su compañía para siempre.
El relato del evangelio de San Mateo nos ha transmitido palabras duras pero que, lo que nos quieren decir, es muy sencillo de comprender: Para un cristiano, lo más importante es Jesús, más que todas aquellas cosas que tenemos y poseemos. También nos ha enseñado que todo lo que hagamos por los demás, se lo hacemos al mismo Jesús y tendrá, como en el caso de la primera lectura, su recompensa. Hasta el sencillo vaso de agua, que ofrecemos al que tiene sed, tendrá su premio. Abramos, pues, nuestro corazón a la generosidad. Hagamos el bien, ayudemos, tendamos nuestra mano al necesitado.
