HOMILÍA
En toda celebración debemos encontrar la fuerza necesaria para vivir con alegría y con ilusión nuestra Fe. Y en este sentido la palabra de Dios que escuchamos cumple un importantísimo papel. La primera lectura de este domingo, diez y siete del Tiempo Ordinario, la hemos tomado del libro de los Reyes y nos ha relatado la oración que el Rey Salomón dirigió a Dios en el primer día de su reinado. Como hemos visto no pide para sí riquezas ni honores, ni la vida de sus enemigos, ni una vida larga. Pide sencillamente un corazón dócil para gobernar a su pueblo, un corazón capaz de discernir el bien del mal. De este pasaje podemos sacar nosotros una enseñanza para nuestra vida.
A la hora de rezar, a la hora de pedir a Dios solemos ser egoístas y, a diferencia de Salomón, le pedimos riquezas y honores. Le pedimos solo por nosotros y nos olvidamos de los demás o le pedimos cosas que podemos alcanzar con nuestro esfuerzo. Es hora de aprender de este Rey sabio. Es hora de pedir a Dios un corazón bueno, justo, misericordioso, un corazón sensible a las necesidades de los demás, un corazón capaz de amar a todos, también a los enemigos; un corazón, en definitiva, al estilo del corazón de Cristo.
La segunda lectura que hemos escuchado, tomada de una carta que San Pablo escribió a la comunidad cristiana de Roma, nos ha recordado una frase que nunca debiéramos olvidar: “A los que había escogido, Dios los predestinó a ser imagen de su hijo.” Nosotros que hemos recibido el don de la fe, que conocemos a Jesús, que tratamos de ser fieles a su mensaje ¿somos imagen de Jesús? Quienes me ven cada día ¿tienen la impresión de que yo soy un cristiano? Es tremenda la responsabilidad que tenemos entre manos los que nos decimos y nos confesamos cristianos. La fe de muchos puede estar dependiendo de cómo vivimos nuestra fe. Como alguien escribió en cierta ocasión: “Nosotros somos el único evangelio que muchos van a tener la oportunidad de leer.” Procuremos que sea un evangelio copia fiel del original.
La lectura del evangelio nos ha recordado algo que se repite con frecuencia en sus páginas: Jesús, su mensaje, su reino de amor, de paz, de justicia, de fraternidad es como un tesoro escondido o como esa perla de gran valor por la que merece la pena darlo todo. No podemos llamarnos realmente cristianos hasta que no hayamos llegado a descubrir personalmente a Jesús como un valor por el cual merece la pena vivir, luchar, trabajar, esforzarse, sufrir y morir.
Vamos a pedírselo así al Señor. Confesemos nuestra fe.
