HOMILÍA
Hasta nuestros oídos y nuestro corazón ha llegado el mensaje de las lecturas, que hoy nos han sido proclamadas, correspondientes al domingo diez y ocho del tiempo ordinario. Un mensaje que tiene que ver con el alimento que los israelitas comieron en el desierto tras salir de Egipto y con ese otro alimento que es la propia persona de Jesús. Él es el pan de vida, el que recibimos en la Comunión. En toda Eucaristía, en el Sagrario de cualquier Iglesia, tenemos la oportunidad de encontrarnos con el Jesús que se nos da como alimento para ayudarnos en nuestro caminar como cristianos.
La primera lectura la hemos tomado del libro del Éxodo, el libro que nos narra la salida de los israelitas de la esclavitud de Egipto y su larga marcha por el desierto en busca de una tierra prometida. No fue fácil la empresa que Moisés lideró en su momento. A las dificultades propias de caminar por el desierto: el calor, la sed… pronto se añadieron otras, de tipo personal. La gente comenzó a añorar el pasado, aquel pasado en el que, aunque eran esclavos de los egipcios, podían, sin embargo, comer y beber. El plan de llevar al pueblo a una nueva tierra se estaba poniendo en peligro. El Señor acude en auxilio del pueblo y de Moisés y hace posible que todos puedan acceder al necesario alimento, al agua, y, también, a ese maná que, siglos más tarde, el mismo Jesús lo mencionará en su discurso sobre el pan de vida.
La segunda lectura la hemos tomado de la carta que recibieron, en su día, los cristianos de Éfeso. El autor les recuerda que, si ahora son cristianos, si han decidido seguir a Cristo, no pueden vivir como los paganos. Deben fijarse en el estilo de vida de aquel Jesús que no vino a ser servido sino a servir y a dar su vida en rescate por muchos. También nosotros nos decimos y nos llamamos cristianos. Acudimos a Misa, recibimos los sacramentos. Nuestra forma de vivir ha de ser coherente con lo que somos. Debemos mantener una relación muy estrecha con Jesús y hacer, del amor a todos, nuestro signo distintivo. En definitiva, se ha de notar que somos cristianos.
El relato del evangelio de este domingo es la continuación natural del pasaje que escuchamos el domingo pasado, en el que veíamos a Jesús multiplicar el pan para saciar el hambre de tantos. Tras el milagro, la gente le buscó y Jesús les habló de que Él era el verdadero pan que debían comer para tener vida. A los que le escucharon les costó entender el sentido de sus palabras. Nosotros sabemos que hablaba de la Eucaristía. Recordemos este mandato de Jesús y acerquémonos con frecuencia a recibirle en la Comunión. Hagámoslo en las mejores condiciones posibles. Para ello tenemos el sacramento del perdón, en el que, un corazón reconciliado y en paz, puede recibirle como se merece.
