HOMILÍA
Comenzamos el mes de Agosto y un nuevo domingo sale a nuestro encuentro. La Palabra de Dios vuelve a resonar en esta Iglesia y en los corazones de todos aquellos que la escuchan como tierra buena. ¡Ojala que, estos días de verano, días de descanso y de vacaciones para tantos, nos ayuden a reflexionar y a preguntarnos qué es lo que el Señor nos quiere decir a cada uno de nosotros!
La primera lectura la hemos tomado del libro del Eclesiastés. El autor quiere hacer reflexionar a su pueblo sobre el hecho de que las cosas que creemos poseer y en las que nos apoyamos no perduran, son frágiles y limitadas. Es necesario que el creyente levante los ojos hacia Dios que es la roca que siempre permanecerá firme. El autor quiso relativizar las cosas materiales. Es bueno que las usemos, que las tengamos en cuenta, pero que no pongamos en ellas el corazón porque están llamadas a desaparecer. Nosotros mismos estamos también llamados a tener que dejarlas a un lado cuando nos marchemos de este mundo. La salvación nos vendrá de ese Dios que nos creó y que nos dio las cosas para nuestro disfrute pero no para hacerlas dioses a nuestra medida.
La segunda lectura la hemos tomado, como estos domingos pasados, de la carta que el apóstol Pablo escribió a la comunidad cristiana de Colosas. El apóstol invita a sus cristianos a buscar los bienes de allá arriba donde está Cristo, a luchar por los bienes del cielo y no por los dela tierra. Aquelloscristianos, que habían sido bautizados, eran muy conscientes de a qué se habían comprometido: a morir al pecado, al mal, al egoísmo, a la avaricia, a la codicia y a resucitar a una vida nueva en la que primaban otros valores: el amor, el compartir, el dar y el darse, el hacer el bien. Los cristianos de todos los tiempos sabemos que este es también el camino que debemos recorrer. Tendremos, como todos, la tentación de adorar las riquezas, de acaparar lo más posible, pero somos conscientes de cómo los caminos de Jesús pasan por “buscar, sobre todo, los bienes de allá arriba.”
El relato del evangelio recoge una llamada apremiante de Jesús para que evitemos la codicia, el deseo de apegar el corazón a los bienes materiales que son efímeros. Que si poseemos riquezas o bienes, que las sepamos poner al servicio de todos, sobre todo de aquellos que más necesidad tienen. Que los utilicemos, sí, que disfrutemos de ellos, pero que el esfuerzo lo pongamos en ser ricos ante Dios. Y lo seremos si sabemos dar un destino solidario a esos bienes materiales que el trabajo, el ahorro o la suerte han hecho llegar hasta nosotros. La muerte, que a todos nos llegará un día, nos hace ver que nadie se lleva al otro mundo lo que ha acumulado en su vida. Y, en ese otro mundo, lo que importará será el bien que hicimos a los demás con lo que tuvimos.
