HOMILÍA
En pleno mes de agosto, cuando tantas personas han salido de vacaciones, cuando la pandemia todavía nos ocupa y nos preocupa, cuando sufrimos porque no siempre es posible estar juntas las personas que se quieren, se buscan y se necesitan, la Palabra de Dios ha llegado hasta nosotros. ¿Qué tiene que decirnos en la situación por la que estamos pasando? Vamos a intentar reflexionar sobre todas y cada una de las lecturas que acabamos de escuchar.
La primera de ellas la hemos tomado del primer libro de los Reyes. El profeta Elías, está siendo perseguido y se refugia en una cueva. De alguna forma, siente la presencia de Dios que le invita a salir de su refugio. Ante él, pasan un huracán, un terremoto y un fuego pero algo le dice que, en esos fenómenos, no se encuentra el Señor. Algo distinto sucede cuando percibe el suave susurro de una brisa. Allí, sí, allí sabe que ese Dios, a quien tantas veces ha invocado, le está esperando. También a nosotros nos sale al encuentro el Señor en multitud de ocasiones. Y, aunque nos acompaña en tantos momentos duros y difíciles, quiere llegar hasta nosotros, de una forma especial, en la paz interior de una suave brisa. Pidámosle que se acerque, así, a nosotros y calme nuestros miedos, nuestras ansiedades, nuestras preocupaciones.
La segunda lectura, de la carta de San Pablo a los cristianos de Roma nos ha transmitido la preocupación del Apóstol porque, el pueblo judío al que pertenece, no ha aceptado a Jesús como Salvador. ¡Ojalá que nuestra preocupación, llegue también a esos familiares y amigos nuestros que no han llegado a descubrir todavía la luz de la Fe! Pidamos al Señor que, nuestro ejemplo y testimonio, sean determinantes para que, aquellos que más queremos, acepten a Jesús.
El relato del evangelio de Mateo ha sido la continuación del pasaje del domingo anterior en el que veíamos a Jesús multiplicar los panes y los peces. En esta ocasión, Jesús se hace presente a los suyos que navegan por un mar encrespado. Hemos visto a un Pedro que, lleno de entusiasmo, quiere imitar al Jesús que camina sobre las aguas. Sin embargo, la fragilidad se impone, siente que se hunde y lanza un grito de auxilio: “Señor, sálvame.” Nosotros, que tantas veces hemos podido imitar al Pedro valiente y decidido, somos conscientes de nuestras limitaciones y necesitamos que, desde el fondo de nuestro corazón digamos: “Sálvame”
