HOMILÍA
El domingo pasado dijimos adiós a un año litúrgico y a un Año Santo de la Misericordia con la celebración de la solemnidad de Cristo Rey. Hoy comenzamos uno nuevo con el tiempo del Adviento. Un tiempo de espera y de esperanza. Un tiempo que nos vuelve a los comienzos, a aquellos momentos en los que toda la humanidad y, de una forma especial, el pueblo de Israel, anhelaba la venida de tiempos mejores y de un Mesías que lo hiciera realidad. Durante cuatro domingos escucharemos lecturas de los profetas que alentaron la esperanza de su pueblo con el anuncio de la venida del Mesías y oiremos la voz de un Juan Bautista que nos invitará a preparar los caminos del Señor.
La primera lectura la hemos tomado del profeta Isaías. Son palabras que nos hablan de un presente duro y difícil pero también de un futuro en el que todo lo malo quedará atrás y se harán realidad los deseos más nobles. Nos dice que, al final de ese proceso, estará la mano de un Dios que quiere lo mejor para sus hijos los hombres. Que Él será el árbitro de las naciones, el juez de pueblos numerosos. Que las espadas de la guerra se transformarán en arados para la paz. Que las armas con las que los seres humanos nos enfrentamos quedarán abandonadas por falta de uso. ¡Cuántas veces nosotros experimentamos también la dureza de un presente y anhelamos un futuro en el que podamos gozar de todo lo bueno! El tiempo del adviento es el tiempo que Dios nos ofrece para recuperar la esperanza en un futuro mejor.
La segunda lectura la hemos tomado de la carta que el Apóstol Pablo escribió a la comunidad cristiana de Roma. Las palabras que hemos escuchado constituyen toda una llamada a vivir con responsabilidad, a obrar el bien, a ser conscientes del momento en que vivimos, a no dilapidar los días y los años viviendo inconscientemente, superficialmente. Estamos llamados a revestirnos de Jesús, de sus cualidades, de sus virtudes, de su estilo de vida de su mensaje de amor.
El relato del evangelio nos ha hablado de esa venida de Jesús que tiene lugar el día de nuestra muerte y para que la tenemos que estar preparados. No quiere el Señor que vivamos angustiados, pero sí que lo hagamos con responsabilidad. El Jesús que viene en la navidad, vendrá un día a buscarnos para llevarnos a su casa del cielo. Y la mejor forma de estar preparados es viviendo las actitudes y los comportamientos que todo adviento nos inculca: la vigilancia, la espera y la esperanza, el amor a los más necesitados, la plegaria confiada, la lectura atenta de la Palabra de Dios, el compartir, la generosidad. Con la mirada puesta en la próxima navidad, metámonos de lleno en este tiempo del Adviento y preparemos nuestro corazón.
