HOMILÍA
El pasado miércoles tuvimos la oportunidad de recibir la ceniza sobre nuestras cabezas. Es, como sabemos, un gesto externo, un signo visible de que estamos dispuestos a iniciar ese tiempo de conversión, personal y comunitaria, que es el tiempo de la Cuaresma, con todas las consecuencias. Una cuaresma que va a estar marcada, de alguna forma, por esa noticia que nos sorprendió a todos hace unos días: el anuncio de la renuncia voluntaria del Papa Benedicto XVI el próximo día 28 de Febrero, a las 8 de la tarde. Y también, como es lógico, por la pronta elección de un nuevo Papa que guíe a la Iglesia. Bueno será que, todos los cristianos, elevemos hacia Dios nuestra plegaria para que este tránsito se haga según su voluntad y los cardenales encargados de la elección elijan al Papa que la Iglesia necesita en estos momentos.
La primera lectura la hemos tomado del libro del Deuteronomio y nos ha recordado unas palabras de Moisés que se dirige al pueblo para decirle que Dios nos escucha cuando nos dirigimos a Él en la plegaria; que nos libera de las esclavitudes que nos oprimen y que acepta nuestras ofrendas. En esta cuaresma, recién estrenada, nosotros estamos llamados a caer en la cuenta de estas tres cosas: Dios escucha nuestra oración. Dediquemos, pues, tiempo a la plegaria, a estar a solas con el Señor, a exponerles problemas y necesidades, alegrías y esperanzas. Dios nos libera de esclavitudes que, en nuestro caso, no tienen nada que ver con cadenas físicas, sino morales. Esas cadenas que son nuestros pecados. Y, finalmente, Dios acepta nuestra ofrenda que es el perdón que pedimos y damos, que necesitamos y regalamos.
La segunda lectura, de San Pablo a los cristianos de Roma, nos hablaba también de otras realidades que han de estar muy presentes en esta Cuaresma: La Palabra de Dios que hemos de estar dispuestos a escucharla y la profesión de Fe que nos ha de llevar a confesar a Jesús como el único Señor de nuestras vidas, a quien podemos invocar para alcanzar la salvación. Dejemos que la Palabra de Dios entre en nuestro corazón y dé el fruto de un testimonio que, saliendo de nuestros labios, se haga palabra y vida ante los que nos rodean.
El relato del evangelio de San Lucas traía a nuestra memoria el conocido episodio de las tentaciones de Jesús. Todos somos tentados, muchas veces, a hacer el mal, a ir por los caminos fáciles del egoísmo. Sin embargo, como ocurrió en el caso del mismo Jesús, podemos vencer las tentaciones. No es fácil. Quizás, por ello, en la oración del Padre Nuestro hay una petición que dice expresamente: “No nos dejes caer en la tentación y líbranos del mal”. En este tiempo cuaresmal, recemos esta oración siendo muy conscientes de esa petición que hacemos. Pidamos al Señor que sepamos vencer el mal a fuerza de bien.
