HOMILÍA
En este domingo, veinte del tiempo ordinario, hemos escuchado la Palabra de un Dios que nos invita a mirar más allá de nuestro país, de nuestra cultura, de nuestra religión y a descubrir, también allí, semillas de bondad, de amor, de generosidad. El bien existe también más allá del pueblo o la comunidad a la que pertenecemos. Es bueno que lo reconozcamos, que lo valoremos, que nos alegremos de ello. También es importante que, ese bien que estamos llamados a practicar, lo vivamos con todos, sean o no sean de nuestro grupo, de nuestra religión, de nuestra raza, de nuestra forma de ser o de pensar.
La primera lectura la hemos tomado del profeta Isaías. Es consciente de la presencia de extranjeros en medio del pueblo de Israel que se esfuerzan por servir al Señor, por guardar el sábado, por hacer el bien. También a ellos el Señor les ama, acepta sus plegarias y sus sacrificios. Para unos y para otros, la casa de Dios será casa de oración por igual. Hoy, entre nosotros, también hay muchas personas que han venido de fuera, que tienen otras culturas y otras religiones. Pensemos que Dios acepta también sus oraciones y premia las ayudas que prestan a los necesitados. ¡Ojalá que nuestro amor llegue también a todos, pertenezcan o no a nuestro pueblo, cultura o religión!
La segunda lectura, de la carta de San Pablo a los cristianos de Roma, nos ha hablado de cómo los pueblos no judíos, los llamados gentiles, están destinados también a formar parte de la misma Iglesia que los judíos convertidos al cristianismo. Él mismo se define a sí mismo como “Apóstol de los Gentiles.” La Fe en Jesús no queda encerrada en los estrechos límites de un pueblo o una cultura. La Iglesia es universal, abierta a todos. Abramos nuestra mentalidad a esta realidad y desarrollemos actitudes de acogida y de hospitalidad para aquellos que vienen a hasta nosotros desde otros lugares.
El relato del evangelio de San Mateo nos ha recordado el episodio de la curación de la hija de una cananea, de una extranjera. La verdad es que Jesús no se lo pone fácil. Pero, la persistencia de esa mujer que busca la curación de su hija, hace que se produzca el milagro. El amor de Jesús y los milagros que realizó, fueron en bien de todos, judíos o no judíos. Hagamos nosotros lo mismo. Ayudemos a todos, sean de donde sean, porque el amor cristiano no conoce fronteras, ni límites.
