HOMILÍA
Han resonado en nuestros oídos y ¡ojala que también en nuestros corazones! los textos bíblicos del domingo que hace el número veinte del tiempo ordinario. A pesar del calor y de este tiempo veraniego que nos inclina a no esforzarnos mucho en la reflexión y en el compromiso, bueno será que traigamos de nuevo a nuestra memoria lo que el Señor nos ha querido enseñar. Él no nos pide imposibles. Dejemos que su mensaje cale en lo más profundo de nosotros mismos.
La primera lectura la hemos tomado del profeta Isaías. Sus palabras, pidiendo observar el derecho y practicar la justicia, no están dirigidas solo a los miembros del pueblo judío, sino también a los extranjeros que se han unido al Señor. Él no está circunscrito a un pueblo o a una raza concreta, sino que está abierto a todos los que le buscan con un corazón sincero. Así nos lo recordaba, de alguna forma, el Papa Francisco en la reciente Jornada Mundial de la Juventud cuando hablaba de cómo “En la Iglesia hay espacio para todos, para todos: jóvenes y viejos, sanos y enfermos, justos y pecadores.”
En la segunda lectura, de San Pablo a los Romanos, también se nos hablaba de los llamados gentiles, los no judíos, que también eran llamados por el Señor, con una llamada irrevocable. Sus brazos abiertos nos acogen a todos por igual. No dejemos a nadie fuera de la comunidad.
El relato del Evangelio de Mateo ha estado también abierto a esos gentiles, no judíos. También ellos son objeto de milagros de sanación por parte de Cristo. La cananea experimenta la alegría de ver curada a su hija aunque Jesús, como hemos visto, no se lo pone fácil. Pero ella lucha y pelea porque busca el bien de su hija. La actitud de esa madre suscita la admiración del propio Jesús: “Mujer, qué grande es tu fe. Que se cumpla lo que deseas.” ¡Ojalá que nuestra fe sea como la de ella!
