HOMILÍA
Hemos leído y escuchado los textos bíblicos del domingo veintidós del tiempo ordinario, el último de este mes de agosto. Hay una palabra en ellos que destaca por encima de las demás. Es la expresión “humildad” todo lo contrario al “orgullo” de quien se cree más y mejor que los demás y se complace en manifestarlo así. Son muchas las ocasiones en las que, en la Biblia, se condena la actitud orgullosa de los seres humanos y se alaba, por el contrario, el talante de quien se reconoce como es y no pretende ponerse por encima de nadie.
La primera lectura la hemos tomado del libro del Eclesiástico. Con rotundidad, proclama que debemos actuar con humildad en lo que decimos y hacemos. La vida nos puede llevar a ocupar puestos importantes pero, las palabras de este libro, nos enseñan que, cuanto más grandes seamos, más debe brillar en nosotros la humildad y la sencillez para alcanzar el favor de Dios. Bueno es que aprendamos y practiquemos la virtud de la humildad. Pidámoselo así al Señor.
La segunda lectura, de la carta a los Hebreos, ha hecho referencia a esas manifestaciones de la divinidad que aparecen en el antiguo testamento que más parecen indicar miedo que confianza. El autor del libro nos viene a decir que los cristianos nos hemos acercado, más bien, al mediador de la nueva alianza, a Jesús. A un Jesús que nos lleva al Padre Dios, a las almas de los justos, a una asamblea festiva de hermanos que nos han precedido en el camino de la fe.
El evangelio de Lucas ha hecho un canto, un himno, a la humildad y a la sencillez. Nada de buscar los primeros puestos o los lugares principales porque “todo el que se enaltece será humillado y el que se humilla será enaltecido”. Y, cuando seamos nosotros los que invitemos hagámoslo, sobre todo, con los que no pueden devolvernos el favor.
