HOMILÍA
Hemos escuchado las lecturas propias del domingo veintidós del tiempo ordinario. Esforcémonos ahora para que su mensaje, para que su enseñanza, lleguen al fondo de nuestro corazón. Son, como sabemos, textos antiguos, pero que conservan la fuerza y el vigor de las cosas actuales. Pidamos al Señor que nos dé su luz para que sepamos descubrir lo que Él quiere decirnos a cada uno de nosotros.
La primera lectura la hemos tomado del libro el profeta Jeremías. Nos ha contado la historia de su propia vocación. Un día el Señor le salió al encuentro y le propuso ser profeta en medio del pueblo. La tarea no era fácil ni, mucho menos, grata. El mensaje que debía difundir no era agradable a los ojos de aquellos a quienes tenía que hablar. Por eso, sintió una cierta resistencia a aceptar la misión. Al final, dirá que sí, consciente de lo que se le viene encima. Y es que, cuando el Señor llama de verdad, no es fácil rechazar, por mucho tiempo, esa invitación que es “como un fuego ardiente en las entrañas”.
El Señor que llamó, en su día, al profeta Jeremías, sigue hoy llamando a muchas personas: a unas, a formar una familia cristiana; a otras, a consagrar su vida como sacerdotes, religiosos, religiosas, misioneros, monjes. Todos los llamados van a pasar por las mismas dificultades por las que pasó el profeta. Pidamos que “ese fuego ardiente en las entrañas” venza en ese duelo entre vivir volcados hacia los demás y el vivir pensando en uno mismo. Recemos por las vocaciones, pidamos que toda llamada del Señor encuentre eco y respuesta positiva en los llamados. La oración de la comunidad, pidiendo al Señor de la mies que envíe obreros a su mies, es imprescindible.
La segunda lectura la hemos tomado de la carta de San Pablo a los cristianos de Roma. Él les exhortaba a ofrecer la propia vida al Señor. Cada vez que acudamos a la misa, pongamos en la patena y en el cáliz, junto al pan y al vino, nuestras vidas y nuestras personas y digamos al Señor: “Aquí me tienes. Haz de mi lo que quieras. Ayúdame a ser como Tú quieres que yo sea”. Y esta ofrenda será de su agrado.
El relato del evangelio es la continuación del que leímos la semana pasada. En esta ocasión, Jesús les habla de lo que va a suceder muy pronto: su pasión, su muerte y resurrección. Palabras que despiertan en Pedro el rechazo a tal posibilidad. Pero Jesús sabe que esa va a ser la realidad y que, aquellos que decidan seguirle a Él, también van a tener que cargar con la cruz y dar su vida para poder recuperarla un día. En esta conversación de Jesús con los suyos hemos escuchado también una frase que tanto repitió Ignacio de Loyola a un Francisco Javier que no se decidía a dar el paso: “¿De qué le sirve a un hombre ganar el mundo entero si arruina su vida?” Reflexionemos nosotros sobre ella.
