HOMILÍA
El tiempo va pasando, los domingos se van sucediendo, el nuevo curso está a punto de comenzar y la Palabra de Dios, fiel a su cita, llama, una vez más, a nuestras puertas. Es una Palabra que nos trae los ecos del Antiguo Testamento pero también las enseñanzas del Nuevo, las palabras de Jesús. A lo largo de este domingo vamos a tratar de entenderlas, meditarlas, contemplarlas y rezarlas.
La primera lectura la hemos tomado del libro del Eclesiástico, uno de esos libros del Antiguo Testamento que recogieron la sabiduría que un pueblo puede llegar a atesorar en su memoria colectiva. El texto de hoy hace una llamada a la humildad, a la sencillez, a ser una buena persona, lejos de cualquier tipo de orgullo, de soberbia, de prepotencia: “Hazte pequeño en las grandezas humanas y te querrán más que al hombre generoso” hemos escuchado. La humildad, la sencillez han de ser virtudes que nos adornen a los seres humanos. Mucho más, si ocupamos un puesto de autoridad, si tenemos responsabilidades sobre otros. Esta enseñanza es válida para todo tiempo y lugar, para cualquier ser humano sea cual sea el siglo en el que viva.
La segunda lectura la hemos tomado, como estos domingos pasados, de la Carta a los Hebreos. Como hemos visto, han sido palabras solemnes, llenas de misterio que al parecer estuvieron dirigidas a cristianos provenientes del judaísmo que podían echar en falta el esplendor de las ceremonias celebradas en el templo de Jerusalén. “Vosotros no os habéis acercado a un monte tangible, a un fuego encendido, les escribía, sino al mediador de una nueva alianza, a Jesús.” Nosotros tampoco hemos contemplado el esplendor de las antiguas manifestaciones divinas que nos narra el antiguo Testamento. Nosotros nos hemos acercado a Jesús, al Dios hecho hombre, al Redentor, al Salvador, a aquel que ha gustado a fondo la condición humana. Vivamos el gozo de esta cercanía, de esa presencia.
El relato del evangelio de Lucas lo podemos dividir en dos partes. La primera de ellas es una llamada a la humildad en el sentido de lo que nos hablaba la primera lectura. Si sabemos escoger el último lugar recibiremos, sin duda, el premio de ocupar un lugar mejor. La segunda parte recoge una enseñanza de Jesús que los cristianos no podemos olvidar: cuando vayamos a hacer el bien, hagámoslo, sobre todo, con aquellos que no nos pueden pagar, que no nos pueden corresponder con la misma moneda. Los pobres, los necesitados, los mendigos son los que, como decía Jesús, nos pagarán cuando resuciten los justos. Abramos nuestros ojos para ver la pobreza de tantos. Fijémonos en las necesidades de aquellos que, cerca o lejos de nosotros, extienden sus manos solicitando nuestra ayuda. Comencemos rezando por ellos.
