HOMILÍA
El mes de septiembre va avanzando, los niños y jóvenes han vuelto a los colegios e institutos y, muchos ya, de sus vacaciones. Todo parece volver a lo cotidiano, a lo propio de la mayor parte del año. Y esa Palabra de Dios, que no ha dejado de proclamarse ningún domingo, hoy la hemos vuelto a escuchar. Dejemos que penetre en nuestro corazón como esa lluvia, temprana o tardía, que hace posible que la tierra sedienta dé fruto abundante. El Señor llama a nuestra puerta, a una puerta que sólo se abre desde dentro. Es decir, si nosotros queremos, si nosotros así lo deseamos.
La primera lectura la hemos tomado del libro del Profeta Isaías. Urgía a su pueblo a buscar al Señor, a dejar los caminos que llevan al mal y los planes que buscan hacer daño al prójimo. Y esto porque, decía, Dios es rico en perdón y en misericordia. Es bueno que, cada cual, examine los senderos por los que transita y los compare con aquellos otros que el Señor nos propone. Las palabras del profeta siguen siendo actuales. Parémonos a pensar. Veamos si lo que hacemos y decimos coincide con lo que Dios espera de nosotros. Si no es así, los cristianos tenemos el sacramento del perdón que nos hará desandar los caminos equivocados y nos pondrá en sintonía con los que Dios quiere.
La segunda lectura es de la carta que San Pablo escribió a la comunidad cristiana de Filipos. Una comunidad especialmente querida para el apóstol en la que siempre encontró apoyo, ayuda y comprensión. Les hace una confidencia: querría estar ya con Cristo, gozar de su compañía, descansar junto a Él; pero sabe que su trabajo con ellos no ha terminado, que es necesario seguir instruyéndoles, ayudándoles a crecer como cristianos. De todas formas, termina diciéndoles, “lo importante es que vosotros llevéis una vida digna del evangelio de Jesús.” Y esta es la frase que hoy debiera quedar grabada en nuestra memoria y en nuestro corazón: que cada uno de nosotros lleve una vida digna del evangelio de Jesús. Pensemos si lo hacemos así.
El relato del evangelio de San Mateo nos ha transmitido la parábola de los jornaleros que, contratados a distintas horas del día, reciben al final el mismo salario: la misma y única salvación para todos, porque lo importante es el haber sido llamados a trabajar en la viña del Señor y el haber puesto en el empeño nuestras mejores energías. Hay quienes han dedicado toda su vida a la causa del evangelio. Otros, se han sentido llamados en la edad joven o adulta. No faltan quienes, como el Buen Ladrón que acompañaba a Cristo en la Cruz, son llamados a última hora. Recemos para que, los llamados a cualquier hora de la jornada, den un paso al frente y, en el breve o largo plazo de tiempo que les quede, sean “humildes trabajadores de la viña del Señor.”
