HOMILÍA
Hemos escuchado las lecturas del último domingo del mes de septiembre. Un domingo que llama a la catequesis a los niños que se prepararán para hacer la Primera Comunión y a los adolescentes que recibirán el sacramento de la Confirmación. Un domingo que les dice los adultos de la comunidad que pueden apuntarse a las llamadas Clases de Teología para recordar o aprender de nuevo las cuestiones esenciales de la Fe. En nuestras parroquias encontraremos toda la información que necesitemos de estos y otros temas.
La primera lectura la hemos tomado, como el domingo pasado, del profeta Amós, el hombre sencillo al que le duele el sufrimiento de los necesitados y le enfada la indiferencia que parecen mostrar los ricos y los poderosos de su tiempo. Sus palabras denuncian esa indiferencia de los que pasan de largo ante el sufrimiento de sus semejantes. Hoy nosotros estamos llamados a sentir como propias las necesidades de los que tenemos al lado o de aquellos que viven en lejanas tierras.
La segunda lectura, de San Pablo a Timoteo, recoge una frase que merece la pena que meditemos y reflexionemos: “Combate el buen combate de la fe, conquista la vida eterna, a la que fuiste llamado y que tú profesaste noblemente delante de muchos testigos.” Hoy nosotros deberíamos hacer nuestra esta misma misión que Pablo le encomendaba a su amigo y discípulo Timoteo: Luchemos, pues, por la fe, esforcémonos en alcanzar la salvación y seamos testigos de Jesús.
El relato del Evangelio de Lucas nos ha transmitido la parábola del mendigo Lázaro que sufre a las puertas del rico que pasa de él. No seamos como ese rico. Nuestra salvación dependerá, en gran medida, de nuestro comportamiento con los pobres y necesitados. La cosa es seria, nos viene a decir Jesús. No podemos hacer como si no nos importara.
