HOMILÍA
Toda Eucaristía, ya lo sabemos, es una acción de gracias. Es lo que significa precisamente esa palabra. Venimos a ella para agradecer a Dios el don de la vida y de la fe, el pertenecer a la Iglesia, el regalo de los sacramentos, la familia, los amigos, un vaso de agua fresca, el trabajo, el pan de la mesa, el poder respirar, ver a las personas que amamos y a las que pensamos que no nos quieren pero nos ayudan a crecer. Damos gracias por la oportunidad de ayudar a los necesitados. Es bueno que los cristianos recordemos que la eucaristía nos da la oportunidad de sentirnos agradecidos. Hoy, además, hasta la Palabra de Dios que acabamos de escuchar, nos ha hablado de la necesidad de mostrar gratitud al Señor y al prójimo.
La primera lectura la hemos tomado del segundo libro de los Reyes. Nos ha contado la historia de un extranjero que, en un momento determinado, acude a buscar la salud a la casa del profeta Eliseo. Alcanzada, tras haber cumplido lo prescrito por el profeta, el extranjero vuelve sobre sus pasos para agradecer la curación con sus palabras y sus regalos. El profeta rechazará estos últimos y se conformará con saber que ha sido un instrumento en las manos de Dios para ayudar a un ser humano. La gratitud ha de formar parte de nuestro bagaje como personas y como cristianos. Todo aquel que se acerque a nosotros y nos ofrezca su ayuda, todo aquel que nos haga un bien…ha de sentir nuestro agradecimiento sincero.
La segunda lectura la hemos tomado de la carta que San pablo escribió a su amigo y discípulos Timoteo. En esta ocasión se trata de un pasaje que solemos leer muchas veces en los funerales porque habla de cómo los cristianos debemos hacer memoria con frecuencia de Jesús resucitado. De cómo, si morimos unidos a él, viviremos con él. De cómo Jesús permanece fiel aunque nosotros no siempre lo seamos. Hagamos memoria de Jesús, sí, recordemos que nuestro destino es pasar por este mundo haciendo el bien para llegar a un día a compartir su misma felicidad. Que el saber esto nos llene de gozo y de paz.
El relato del evangelio de Lucas nos ha recordado la escena en la que diez leprosos fueron curados por Jesús pero en la que sólo uno volvió sobre sus pasos para agradecer su curación. Este era un samaritano, un extranjero. Como vemos, también el evangelio nos insiste en la necesidad de ser agradecidos, de mostrar nuestro reconocimiento al Dios que nos hace tantos pequeños regalos al final del día y a esos vecinos, amigos y familiares nuestros que nos llaman por teléfono, que se interesan por nosotros, que se preocupan por nuestra salud, que nos hacen llegar tantas cosas como una muestra visible del cariño que nos tienen. ¡Ojalá que nuestra conducta suscite el agradecimiento de otros!
