HOMILÍA
Hemos escuchado las lecturas del domingo veintinueve del tiempo ordinario, un domingo que nos trae los ecos del Domund, del Domingo Mundial de la Propagación de la Fe, del Domingo de las Misiones y de los miles y miles de misioneros y misioneras que, en los cinco continentes, están anunciado el mensaje de Jesús y haciendo posible el desarrollo de pueblos enteros. Bueno es que hoy, todos, recordemos que, la tarea evangelizadora de la Iglesia, no es cosa sólo de unos pocos sino que es tarea de todos los cristianos. Bueno es que hoy, todos también, apoyemos la labor de quienes, en los países para pobres del mundo, están llevando el pan de la Palabra de Dios y el pan y la escuelas y los hospitales y tantas otras cosas imprescindibles.
La primera lectura la hemos tomado del libro del profeta Isaías. Ha hecho referencia a un misterioso personaje que responde al nombre de “Siervo de Yavé.” Un siervo que sabe lo que es el dolor y el sufrimiento y la entrega de la propia vida en bien de los demás. ¡Cómo no ver en este Siervo a Jesús y a tantos misioneros y misioneras que, dejándolo todo, han entregado su propia vida a la causa del evangelio! Hombres y mujeres que saben lo que es el dolor y el sufrimiento, que viven situaciones duras y difíciles y que, en ocasiones, mueren por ser testigos de Jesús, por defender a los débiles y oprimidos. Recemos por ellos; que nuestra plegaria les sostenga en su labor; que nunca se sientan solos, sino muy acompañados y arropados por las comunidades de las que un día partieron.
La segunda lectura ha sido de la Carta a los Hebreos y comienza con una frase que nos llama, poderosamente, la atención. “Mantengamos la confesión de la Fe.” Bueno es que los cristianos no olvidemos que la fe hay que luchar por mantenerla, por cultivarla, por hacerla crecer día a día y por transmitirla a los que tenemos alrededor con nuestra palabra y con nuestro testimonio. En esa transmisión de la Fe, en la que ocupan un lugar preeminente los misioneros, no puede faltar la ayuda solidaria de todos los cristianos. Hoy, como sabemos, hacemos una colecta para que esa transmisión de la fe continúe.
El relato del evangelio nos ha contado el episodio de dos apóstoles, Santiago y Juan, que, sin haber comprendido por dónde iba el pensamiento del Jesús, se atreven a pedir los primeros puestos en ese reino que, ellos creen, que el Maestro va a fundar. Las palabras de Jesús no dejan lugar a dudas: “El que quiera ser grande, sea vuestro servidor. Y el que quiera ser el primero, que sea esclavo de todos.” Nadie mejor que los misioneros conocen esta frase y la ponen en práctica. Ser cristianos es seguir al Jesús que “no vino a ser servido sino a servir.”
