HOMILÍA
Pasado el tiempo de Navidad, celebradas las fiestas que le acompañan y, tras haber hecho memoria de las fiestas de la Epifanía y del Bautismo de Jesús, volvemos a las celebraciones normales del llamado tiempo ordinario durante unos pocos domingos, antes de encontrarnos con ese otro tiempo fuerte del calendario cristiano que es la Cuaresma. El tiempo ordinario nos trae el recuerdo del Jesús que, rodeado de un grupo de amigos, a los que llamará apóstoles, recorre los caminos y los pueblos de Palestina enseñando, realizando milagros y hablado de un Dios que es Padre y nos quiere.
La primera lectura la hemos tomado del primer libro de Samuel y nos ha contado la historia de su propia vocación. Concebido y nacido tras largos ruegos de su madre que le pedía al Señor la gracia de un hijo, fue educado en el templo. Allí es donde tiene lugar la escena que hemos contemplado. La llamada que recibe de parte de Dios, necesitará la ayuda de su maestro y guía Elí. Cuando llegue el momento, cuando comprenda lo que se espera de él, sabrá decir con fuerza y valentía: “Habla, Señor, que tu siervo te escucha”. También en nuestros días, el Señor sigue llamando a muchos a la vida sacerdotal o religiosa pero, ya lo sabemos, el ambiente no es propicio para escuchar y dar una respuesta positiva a esa llamada. Bueno es que, todos, recemos para que nuestras comunidades cuenten con la presencia suficiente de sacerdotes, religiosos y religiosas; de personas consagradas que enseñen, animen y guíen a los creyentes en el camino hacia Dios.
La segunda lectura la hemos tomado de la carta que San Pablo escribió a la comunidad cristiana de Corinto que vivía en un ambiente donde no era fácil practicar la castidad. Pablo les recuerda que el cuerpo es templo del Espíritu y que está llamado a ser su morada. Por lo tanto, les viene a decir, no podemos utilizar nuestro cuerpo para el mal, para el egoísmo, sino para darle al Señor la gloria que merece.
El evangelio de San Juan nos ha presentado la vocación de los tres primeros apóstoles. A ellos les seguirían nueve más, hasta completar el número de doce. La vocación de los primeros apóstoles, como la de Samuel en la primera lectura, nos ha de impulsar a trabajar por las vocaciones sacerdotales y religiosas. Antes hablábamos de la oración perseverante como de algo que nunca debe faltar pero, además, siempre habrá algo que todos podamos hacer: los padres cuando hablan a sus hijos de esa posibilidad, los catequistas cuando están con su grupo y les hacen ver lo hermoso de esta misión y, cada uno de nosotros, cuando animamos a quien tenemos al lado para que dé un paso al frente. Y no pensemos sólo en otros. Algunos podrán decir también en primera persona: “Aquí estoy, Señor, vengo porque me has llamado.”
