HOMILÍA
A pesar de las circunstancias adversas que cada uno de nosotros podamos estar viviendo a nivel personal y comunitario o, precisamente por eso, la Palabra de Dios llega hasta nosotros para infundirnos esperanza y confianza y para recordarnos que el amor, la misericordia, la compasión, las hemos de vivir y practicar, de una manera muy especial, precisamente ahora. Tengamos algún momento de reflexión en el que nos planteemos cómo dar y darnos, como compartir y ser solidarios, cómo estar de cerca de aquellos que más sufren.
La primera lectura la hemos tomado del libro del Éxodo. Nos ha hablado de emigrantes, de viudas, de huérfanos, de necesitados de ayuda y de compasión. Y nos ha urgido a dar una respuesta, que nos haga salir de nosotros mismos, para acudir en su auxilio, para no pasar indiferentes a su lado, para asumir su situación como propia, para echar una mano. ¡Quién sabe lo que nos deparará el futuro y si nos veremos, algún día, en situación de necesitar ayuda de los demás! Hagamos hoy lo que querríamos que otros hicieran por nosotros en el mañana.
La segunda lectura, de la carta de San Pablo a los cristianos de la ciudad griega de Tesálonica, ha recogido unas palabras del Apóstol que felicita a esa comunidad por cómo acogieron, en el pasado, la Palabra de Dios y por cómo la están viviendo en el momento presente. ¡Ojalá que también se pudiera decir lo mismo de nuestras comunidades cristianas actuales! ¡Ojalá que acojamos con entusiasmo la Palabra de Dios y la tratemos de vivir como Dios quiere que lo hagamos!
El relato del evangelio de Mateo nos ha recordado el mandato principal que tenemos los cristianos: el amor a Dios y el amor al prójimo. Ya lo sabemos, diremos, pero quizás lo estemos olvidando en nuestra vida diaria. Por eso, es bueno que se nos recuerde de vez en cuando.
