HOMILÍA
Termina el mes de octubre, mes del Rosario, del Pilar, de una devoción más intensa a Santa María, nuestra Madre. Y comenzamos el mes de noviembre, un mes en el que haremos memoria de Todos los Santos y recordaremos a los difuntos, a esos seres queridos que, hace más o menos tiempo, nos dejaron, pero que siguen teniendo un lugar en nuestra mente y en nuestro corazón. Y, antes de todo eso, dispongámonos a reflexionar sobre las lecturas de este domingo, 31 del tiempo ordinario.
La primera lectura la hemos tomado del Libro de la Sabiduría. Nos ha descrito algunas de las cualidades que adornan el corazón de Dios: es grande, compasivo, indulgente, amoroso, preocupado por la conversión de todos y de cada uno de los seres humanos. Si así es Él, también nosotros debemos esforzarnos por imitarle. ¿Cómo podríamos decirnos creyentes si no nos esforzáramos en tener un corazón en el que todos quepan, si no mostráramos compasión con los que sufren o fuéramos indulgentes con las faltas y errores de nuestros semejantes?
La segunda lectura, de San Pablo a los Tesalonicenses, nos ha recordado que él y los pastores de la Iglesia deben dedicar tiempo a la oración por los miembros de la comunidad a la que sirven. También les ha recordado que no tenían que vivir angustiados por su venida al final de los tiempos. Solo él sabe cuándo será, pero no será inminente. Mientras, hay que trabajar por llevar el evangelio a todas partes.
El evangelio de Lucas nos ha hablado de un personaje peculiar, Zaqueo. Era publicano, recaudador de impuestos al servicio de los romanos y odiado por sus compatriotas. Pero quería cambiar de vida, devolver lo robado y tener un lugar en el corazón de los suyos. Jesús acepta su arrepentimiento y le dice: “Hoy ha sido la salvación de esta casa”. Que también nosotros busquemos el arrepentimiento, el cambio de vida.
