HOMILÍA
Hemos escuchado las lecturas propias del tercer domingo de Adviento. Poco a poco nos vamos acercando a la Navidad y ejercitando toda una serie de virtudes y actitudes propias de este tiempo: el espíritu penitencial, la espera, la esperanza. Hoy la Iglesia nos invita a retomar la alegría, la alegría de quien sabe que Jesús está cerca. La preparación para celebrar el nacimiento de Jesús también incluye el gozo de sabernos amados por ese Dios que se hace hombre y nace en una oscura cueva de los alrededores de Belén. Llevemos esa alegría, ese gozo, a todos esos ambientes en los que nos movemos. Para muchos, estos días están teñidos de tristeza por el recuerdo de tantas personas que ya no están con nosotros. Llevémosles esa paz y ese bien que nos trae el niño de Belén. Que puedan tener en nosotros un hombro en el que apoyarse.
La primera lectura la hemos tomado del profeta Isaías. Sus primeras palabras las recordamos todos muy bien porque describen a la perfección la misión que Jesús hará propia, tal y como Él mismo dijo en la sinagoga de su pueblo de Nazaret, cuando le dieron a leer ese pasaje y Él, sentándose, anunció que “hoy se cumple esta escritura que acabáis de oír.” Las siguientes palabras del profeta son una llamada a la alegría, a la alegría que nos viene del Señor, al gozo que sólo Dios sabe infundir en nuestros corazones heridos por la tristeza, por la soledad, por el dolor, por la enfermedad. Convirtámonos en instrumentos en las manos de Dios para llevar alegría a quien más la necesite.
La segunda lectura la hemos tomado de una carta que San Pablo escribió a la comunidad cristiana de Tesalónica. Una comunidad que vivía preocupada por el fin de este mundo que creían muy cercano. La angustia se había apoderado del corazón de muchos de ellos. Las palabras del Apóstol son un mandato irrenunciable: “Vivid siempre alegres y guardaos de toda forma de maldad.” ¡Ojala que este mensaje resuene hoy en nuestra asamblea y en nuestros corazones! Pidamos al Señor que no nos deje caer en la tentación del pesimismo, de la falta de esperanza cara al futuro. Dios no tarda en cumplir sus promesas, nos decía también San Pablo. Y las promesas de Dios son de felicidad.
El relato del evangelio de San Juan nos ha vuelto a presentar la figura de un Juan Bautista, austero, que no quiere ningún protagonismo; que sabe que Él no es el Mesías, aunque muchos se acerquen a él para escucharle. Sus palabras apuntan a Alguien que ha de venir, a Alguien que ya está en medio del pueblo y del que él no se siente digno ni siquiera de desatarle la correa de las sandalias. Así tenemos que obrar también los cristianos: no creernos protagonistas sino hablar a los demás de Jesús, de su estilo de vida, de su mensaje de amor. Seamos, como Juan el Bautista, precursores y anunciadores de Jesús.
