HOMILÍA
Hemos escuchado las lecturas del tercer domingo de adviento. Un domingo que tiene una característica peculiar: Si durante este tiempo insistimos, por activa y por pasiva, en preparar el corazón para recibir al Jesús que viene en la Navidad, hoy hacemos hincapié en la alegría que nos produce esa venida. Sí que tenemos que seguir trabajando en renovar nuestra vida pero ¿Cómo vivir ajenos al gozo que el nacimiento de Jesús producirá en nuestros hogares, en nuestra existencia? Es verdad que, en los días de la Navidad, muchos sentirán la nostalgia de otras navidades celebradas con familiares y amigos que ya no están. Sepamos ser, en esas ocasiones, compañeros de todos ellos. Sembremos alegría en los que, esos días, sentirán el desgarro y el recuerdo de los que faltan.
La primera lectura la hemos tomado del profeta Isaías. Su pueblo está en el destierro, lejos de esa patria querida y añorada, pero todo va a cambiar. La vuelta a la patria que les vio nacer, a ellos o a sus padres, va a ser una realidad. Por eso, la alegría ha de volver a anidar en sus corazones. Han de fortalecer las manos débiles y las rodillas vacilantes. La desesperación ha de dejar paso al entusiasmo. Se tienen que ir preparando para regresar al país de donde un día salieron sus padres y sus abuelos. La llamada a la alegría que les hace el profeta es una llamada que debemos sentir como propia al vislumbrar ya la cercanía de la fiesta del nacimiento de Jesús.
La segunda lectura, del apóstol Santiago, nos hablaba de la paciencia que ha de acompañar siempre la espera en este tiempo de Adviento. Una paciencia que ha de estar unida al no quejarnos los unos de los otros, al no considerar a los demás como culpables de nuestra realidad, de nuestra situación. Vamos al encuentro de Jesús juntos, como amigos, como hermanos, como comunidad. Jesús nace para todos y todos hemos de esperarle fraternalmente unidos.
El relato del evangelio ha puesto ante nuestros ojos la figura incomparable de Juan el Bautista. Un hombre austero, coherente, que proclama la cercanía de Jesús y la necesidad de prepararnos, con obras y de verdad, para recibirle. Juan es consciente de su misión. Él no es el Mesías, no es el que ha de venir. ¿Eres tú el que ha de venir o tenemos que esperar a otro? Las obras que Jesús realiza dan fe de que Él es, realmente, el que tenía que venir. Dirijamos, pues, hacia Él nuestra mirada
