HOMILÍA
Hemos escuchado la Palabra de Dios en este tercer domingo de cuaresma que nos trae los ecos de una noticia que surgió días atrás: el Papa Benedicto XVI ha dejado su ministerio y ahora estamos en lo que se conoce como “Sede Vacante”. Los cardenales están ya dando los pasos necesarios para organizar el Cónclave que elegirá al próximo Papa, a un nuevo sucesor de San Pedro. En estos días pasados, hemos hecho hincapié en que, para los cristianos, son, deben ser, días de oración, para pedir al Espíritu Santo que inspire, a los encargados de la elección, el nombre de la persona que guiará a la Iglesia en los próximos años, el Papa que la Iglesia necesita en estos momentos de la historia. Sigamos haciéndolo. Nosotros, es verdad, no entraremos en ese conclave, pero sí podemos y debemos hacer, quizás, lo más importante: rezar, unir nuestra plegaria a la de los cristianos del mundo entero.
La primera lectura nos ha traído a nuestra memoria a la figura de Moisés. Él fue elegido para liderar un proyecto de liberación que incluía la salida de Egipto, una larga marcha por el desierto y la llegada a una tierra nueva en la que poder establecerse y vivir en libertad. También nosotros estamos llamados a salir de una tierra de esclavitud a la que nos atan nuestros pecados, vivir nuestra propia experiencia de desierto interior… para llegar a una tierra de libertad, a una nueva realidad en la que el pecado haya quedado atrás y el amor presida nuestras relaciones con el Señor y con el prójimo. Veamos así la cuaresma: no es un tiempo triste y gris. Es un oportunidad que se nos ofrece para salir de la esclavitud del pecado y del mal y vivir gozosamente una libertad recién estrenada. El esfuerzo merecerá la pena.
La segunda lectura, de San Pablo a los Corintios, ha hecho referencia a esa experiencia del desierto que vivieron los israelitas en tiempos de Moisés. No todos, como hemos escuchado, la aprovecharon. Muchos miraban hacia atrás, añoraban la esclavitud perdida, seguían viviendo en el mal. No hagamos nosotros lo mismo. Aprovechemos este tiempo cuaresmal para encontrarnos con nosotros mismos, con el Señor y con los demás. Recemos, escuchemos la Palabra de Dios, estemos cerca de los necesitados, de los que sufren las consecuencias de la crisis económica.
El relato del evangelio de San Lucas nos ha recordado unas palabras de Jesús que nos hablaban de la necesidad de convertirnos y lo hacía apelando a hechos dramáticos. También las palabras de Jesús hacían referencia a la necesidad de dar buenos frutos. Dios, es verdad, tiene mucha paciencia con nosotros, pero nos urge a dar frutos de justicia, de amor, de generosidad, de saber compartir. Nosotros somos esa higuera de la que espera que dé lo mejor de si misma. ¡Pensémoslo!
