HOMILÍA
Estamos en el centro de este tiempo cuaresmal que la Iglesia nos ofrece todos los años. Las lecturas del evangelio recogen hoy y los próximos domingos, la catequesis que recibían aquellos que, en los primero siglos de la iglesia, se preparaban para recibir el bautismo en la solemne Vigilia Pascual. Les presentaban a Jesús como el “agua viva” que colma la sed de felicidad que bulle en un corazón humano, con el relato de la Samaritana. También les hablaban de Jesús como “la luz” que todo ser humano necesita para caminar por la vida, con el episodio del ciego de nacimiento y, finalmente, les mostraban a Jesús como “la Vida” con mayúsculas a la que todos aspiramos, con el suceso de la resurrección de Lázaro. Recibamos nosotros también esta misma catequesis.
La primera lectura la hemos tomado del libro del Éxodo que nos cuenta la larga marcha por el desierto del pueblo de Israel en busca de la tierra prometida. No era fácil encontrar siempre el agua necesaria y, los ánimos de los caminantes, iba decayendo. Será Moisés el que, con la ayuda de Dios, consiga agua para calmar la sed del pueblo y la paz vuelva de nuevo. También hoy el Señor nos proporciona, a todos y a cada uno de nosotros, aquello que vamos necesitando para atravesar el desierto de esta vida. Pidamos y sepamos dar gracias cuando llegue el momento.
La segunda lectura, de san Pablo a los cristianos de Roma, nos ha recordado dos frases que no podemos olvidar. Una de ellas, dice: “El amor de Dios ha sido derramado en nuestros corazones con el Espíritu Santo que se nos ha dado”. La otra: “Dios nos demostró su amor cuando, siendo todavía pecadores, Cristo murió por nosotros”. Sintamos ese amor que Dios nos tiene, disfrutemos de él y que, el sabernos amados, nos impulse a amar a los demás.
El relato del Evangelio del San Juan nos ha hablado del encuentro de Jesús con la samaritana. Ella era una mujer que buscaba la felicidad; muchas veces, por caminos equivocados. Cuando se encontró con Jesús, todo cambió. Sintió que, aquel extraño personaje, había tocado su corazón. Ella le ofreció agua del pozo para calmar la sed y Jesús le dio a cambio un agua “que salta hasta la vida eterna.” Abrió ante sus ojos el camino que llevaba hasta la felicidad más completa y definitiva. Ella se supo amada y comprendida. Y eso la impulsó a comunicar a su pueblo que había encontrado al Mesías. Veamos a Jesús con los ojos de la samaritana. Como ella, pidámosle que nos dé la misma agua viva.
