HOMILÍA
Poco a poco, los cristianos vamos avanzando en el camino pascual, recordando a Jesús Resucitado, llenándonos de su alegría y del gozo que él quiere infundir en nuestros corazones. Hoy comenzamos el mes de mayo, el mes de María. Es también el día de los trabajadores, el día del trabajo. También recordamos a San José, la persona “que Dios puso al frente de su familia para que, haciendo las veces de padre, cuidará de Jesús.” Este mes de mayo, todos, pero de una forma especial las personas de la tercera edad, están llamadas a celebrar la Pascua del Enfermo y a recibir el Sacramento de la Unción de los Enfermos. Es también el mes de las romerías a las ermitas de la Virgen y de los santos.
La primera lectura la hemos tomado del libro de los Hechos de los Apóstoles. Se nos ha contado el entusiasmo de aquellos primeros evangelizadores, de aquellos primeros testigos de Jesús Resucitado. Ese entusiasmo les llevó a muchos a ser detenidos e interrogados; lo que les dio ocasión de proclamar, ante sus mismos perseguidores, la fe que guiaba su vida. Preguntémonos hasta qué punto, nosotros también, vivimos con entusiasmo nuestro seguimiento de Jesús.
La segunda lectura, del libro del Apocalipsis, ha hecho una alabanza de ese Cordero que es Jesús, que fue sacrificado en el altar de la Cruz, que dio su vida por todos y cada uno de nosotros. A él, decía, “el honor, la gloria y el poder para siempre.” Que una inmensa ola de gratitud brote, desde el fondo de nuestros corazones, hacia este Jesús por la salvación y la redención que alcanzó para nosotros.
El relato del evangelio nos ha contado una de tantas apariciones de Jesús a sus amigos, los apóstoles, y el triple interrogatorio al que fue sometido Pedro: “¿Me amas más que estos?” Tres habían sido las negaciones. Tres iban a ser también las respuestas de amor de Pedro.
