HOMILÍA
Los cristianos hemos venido celebrando la fiesta de San José todo diez y nueve de marzo. Este año, al coincidir con el cuarto domingo de cuaresma, recordamos a San José, sí, pero la Iglesia nos invita, más bien, a la reflexión sobre los textos bíblicos propios de este domingo. El día veinte podremos celebrar, con toda la solemnidad, a San José. Y, tanto hoy como mañana, haremos memoria del Día del Seminario y rezaremos para que nuestras comunidades cristianas tengan siempre sacerdotes suficientes para atenderlas debidamente.
La primera lectura la hemos tomado del libro de Samuel. Nos ha contado la historia de la elección de David como rey de Israel. El Señor no elige para ese puesto al mayor de los hermanos ni al que es tenido por el más importante, sino al más pequeño y es que Dios se fija siempre, de una forma especial, en ellos. Esto nos enseña que, en este tiempo cuaresmal, estamos llamados a desarrollar la virtud de la humildad, de la sencillez. Pidamos al Señor que nos ayude en este empeño.
La segunda lectura, de San Pablo a los Efesios, nos ha invitado a ser luz para los demás en medio del mundo. Cuando recibimos el bautismo adquirimos el título de “hijos de la luz”. Seremos luz si hacemos el bien, si amamos aunque no seamos correspondidos, si sabemos transmitir el gozo y la sonrisa de Dios, si somos comprensivos, si infundimos ánimo y esperanza a los que nos rodean.
El relato del evangelio de Juan nos ha transmitido la curación de un ciego de nacimiento. Era otra de las catequesis que recibían los primeros cristianos, antes de bautizarse, en la que aprendían que Jesús era la luz y que ellos debían acercarse a Jesús para recibir esa luz e iluminar las vidas y las personas de los que les rodeaban. Cuando vivamos en la oscuridad, pidamos que la luz de Jesús nos alumbre.
