HOMILÍA
En medio de estos días, llenos de incertidumbre por la llegada a nuestro país del coronavirus que nos está impidiendo poder reunirnos en la iglesia para celebrar la Eucaristía, somos invitados a la reflexión y al compromiso al que nos invitan las lecturas de este cuarto domingo de cuaresma del ciclo A. Pero, sea en casa o en la iglesia, leamos con calma esta Palabra de Dios, preguntémonos que es lo que nos sugiere y tratemos de vivir, en estas circunstancias concretas, su contenido. Nuestra realidad es, muchas veces, cambiante, pero hemos de saber adaptar esa Palabra de Dios a nuestra situación.
La primera lectura la hemos tomado del primer libro de Samuel. Nos ha contado la elección de David como rey de Israel. No era el mayor de los hermanos, ni el que más derechos poseía en aquella familia. Era el más pequeño, el que menos contaba a los ojos de los hombres, pero es que Dios elige siempre a los más pequeños, a los humildes, a los sencillos para realizar su obra de salvación. Aprendamos la lección. Si queremos que Dios se fije en nosotros, que nos elija, no podemos caminar por los caminos del orgullo, de la soberbia, del creernos más o mejores que los demás. Ocupar el último lugar, ser servidor de todos, es siempre la mejor opción que podemos tomar.
La segunda lectura, de la carta de San Pablo a los cristianos de Éfeso, nos ha recordado lo que estamos llamados a ser los cristianos: luz. Si, antes de conocer a Jesús, vivíamos en las tinieblas, ahora, después de conocerle y amarle, estamos emplazados a iluminar las vidas de las personas que están a nuestro lado. Y, lo haremos, si nuestra vida es un reflejo de la de Jesús; si la gente ve, en nuestro modo de vivir, de actuar, de comportarnos, un estímulo para que, ellos también, hagan lo mismo. ¡Ojala que sepamos ser una estrella en la vida de muchos!
El relato del evangelio de Juan, el de la curación del ciego de nacimiento, era uno de los textos que los primeros cristianos utilizaban para preparar a los que querían ser bautizados. Les presentaban la figura de Jesús como la luz que todo ser humano necesita para caminar por la vida. Hoy nosotros estamos viviendo tiempos de oscuridad. La enfermedad se ha apoderado de muchos. Otros la temen. Todos andamos inquietos y preocupados. Tengamos confianza. Aunque muchos nos digan que la oración no sirve para nada, recemos por todos. Rezar es amar.
