HOMILÍA
A las puertas mismas de la Cuaresma, que comenzará el próximo miércoles, día 26, somos llamados a reflexionar sobre los textos bíblicos que nos ofrecen las lecturas propias de este séptimo domingo del Tiempo Ordinario. Su mensaje nos preparará para comenzar, con buen pie, la Cuaresma, ese tiempo de renovación personal y comunitaria, tiempo de perdón y de reconciliación, tiempo de volvernos a Dios y a los demás, tiempo de oración y de escucha atenta de la Palabra de Dios; tiempo que, con ese rito simbólico de la imposición de la ceniza, nos recuerda lo que somos: frágiles, limitados, necesitados de la ayuda, de la gracia, del perdón del Señor.
La primera lectura la hemos tomado del libro del Levítico, un libro del antiguo testamento que nos ofrece todo un programa para vivir en la Cuaresma: Nos ha hablado de que estamos llamados a ser santos, a no dar cabida en nuestro corazón al odio que destruye al prójimo pero también a nosotros mismos. La venganza y el rencor no pueden formar parte de nuestra identidad como hijos de Dios. “Amar al prójimo como a uno mismo” es una máxima que debiéramos grabar con fuerza en nuestros corazones. No hacer al otro lo que a ti no te agrada es una norma sabía, fácil de entender. Que estas palabras guíen nuestra vida.
La segunda lectura, de la carta de san Pablo a los Corintios, nos ha recordado una gran verdad: “Somos templos del Espíritu”. Y lo somos todos. Por eso, cuando insultamos al otro, cuando le criticamos, cuando le hacemos daño, atacamos también al Espíritu que habita en su interior. Respetemos al otro, recemos por él, hagámosle todo el bien posible. El Señor recibirá, como hecho a él mismo, todo lo bueno que hagamos a nuestros hermanos.
El relato del Evangelio de san Mateo ha hecho referencia a ese “pero yo os digo” que escuchábamos el domingo pasado. Si la norma hablaba de “ojo por ojo y diente por diente” Jesús nos enseñará a no responder al mal con el mal, a la violencia con la violencia. Si era normal escuchar frases como “amarás a tu prójimo y aborrecerás a tu enemigo” Jesús nos impulsará a amar a todos, amigos y enemigos. ¡Qué difícil pero qué hermoso, amar también a los enemigos, a los que no nos quieren, a los que nos hacen daño! ¡Qué difícil pero qué hermoso, poder rezar, como un acto de amor, por aquellos que hieren nuestro corazón!
