HOMILÍA
Hemos escuchado las lecturas propias del domingo ocho del tiempo ordinario. El domingo que precede al inicio de la Cuaresma. El próximo miércoles, día dos de marzo, seremos invitados a recibir la ceniza sobre nuestras cabezas como un signo visible del comienzo de un tiempo de renovación personal y comunitaria. Siempre es tiempo de conversión, todos los días del año son buenos para eso, pero la Iglesia nos pide que, en el tiempo cuaresmal, intensifiquemos, más si cabe, nuestro deseo de conversión. Y todo ello, con la vista puesta en la gran fiesta cristiana de la Pascua de Resurrección.
La primera lectura la hemos tomado del libro del Eclesiástico. Nos ha recordado que debemos tener cuidado con el uso de esa lengua que puede hacer tanto daño a nuestro prójimo. Podemos herir a los demás con nuestras acciones, es verdad, pero también con las palabras que salen de nuestra boca. Pensemos en lo que decimos y en cómo lo decimos.
La segunda lectura, de la carta de San Pablo a los cristianos de Corinto, nos ha hablado de la realidad de la muerte, tan presente entre nosotros. Pero también de que la muerte no tiene la última palabra en nuestras vidas. La victoria de Jesús sobre la muerte es también nuestra victoria. Lo que importa es que nos entreguemos a la obra del Señor, convencidos de que nuestro esfuerzo no será en vano.
El relato del evangelio de San Lucas nos ha puesto sobre el tapete una frase que todos conocemos muy bien: “¿Por qué te fijas en la mota que tiene tu hermano en el ojo y no reparas en la viga que llevas en el tuyo?” ¡Cuántas veces aumentamos los defectos del prójimo y disminuimos la importancia de los que nos afectan a nosotros! Seamos conscientes de que, cada uno de nosotros, está llamado a tomar conciencia de esos defectos que debemos corregir primero, antes de acusar a otros.
