HOMILÍA
Los cristianos, la Iglesia, cada uno de nosotros, hemos vivido con intensidad el tiempo de la cuaresma. Ante nuestros ojos han desfilado escenas evangélicas como las tentaciones de Jesús, su transfiguración en el monte Tabor, el encuentro con la samaritana, con el ciego de nacimiento, con Lázaro a quien resucitó de entre los muertos. Todas ellas nos han ido presentando a un Jesús vencedor de la tentación, que muestra el misterio que se encierra en su persona; a un Jesús que calma la sed de felicidad de todo ser humano, que se presenta como luz y como la vida que vence a la muerte. Hoy, somos invitados a comenzar una semana santa llena de acontecimientos y celebraciones.
En primer lugar, su entrada solemne en la ciudad de Jerusalén en la que la que una multitud entusiasmada sale a su encuentro para recibirle porque recuerda sus palabras, sus milagros, su amor hecho realidad en cada encuentro con unos y con otros. Los ramos de olivo, los mantos tendidos a su paso, los gritos de alegría llenan el ambiente. Jesús sabe, sin embargo, que comienza una semana que le llevará a la pasión y a la cruz; también, es verdad, a la resurrección y a la vida. Los ramos que los cristianos bendecimos en este día nos ayudan a sintonizar con los sentimientos de Jesús.
Un Jesús que, antes de morir, reunirá a los suyos en una Última Cena, en una cena de despedida en la que les recordará cual ha de ser el signo distintivo de los que sigan sus pasos a lo largo de la historia, les lavará los pies para enseñarles cómo han de estar los unos al servicio de los otros, instituirá la eucaristía, inventará el modo de quedarse en el pan y en el vino para que todos lo podamos recibir, rezará por todos, les pedirá que sean uno, que no rompan nunca la unidad, que se quieran como hermanos. Cuando la cena termine, se dirigirán al Huerto de los Olivos y él sentirá la angustia de la proximidad de la muerte mientras los suyos… duermen.
Despertarán cuando Jesús sea prendido y comience una noche interminable de juicios, afrentas y humillaciones que culminarán con su condena a morir en la cruz. Una cruz que cargará sobre sus hombros, ayudado en su momento por el Cirineo y por la Verónica. Una cruz en la que dirá sus últimas palabras: “Padre, en tus manos encomiendo mi espíritu.” De ella será descendido y colocado en un sepulcro. El sábado será el día de su sepultura antes de resucitar, tal y como había dicho muchas veces, al tercer día.
Algo que celebraremos el día de la Vigilia Pascual por la noche, el día de Pascua, la fiesta más grande y más importante que tenemos los cristianos, y también durante los cincuenta días de llamado Tiempo Pascual. Hoy es Domingo de Ramos. Vivámoslo con intensidad.
