HOMILÍA
Los ramos y las palmas que hemos traído a la iglesia para ser bendecidas nos recuerdan a aquellos otros ramos y palmas con las que la gente de Jerusalén acogió a Jesús en aquel primer domingo de Ramos de la historia. Le habían visto hacer milagros. Recordaban haberle escuchado aquellas parábolas que encerraban, dentro de sí, muchas enseñanzas llenas de vida. No olvidaban que su presencia y su mirada les confortaban. Por eso y, por tantas otras cosas más, aquel día se desató el entusiasmo colectivo. Y los ramos y las palmas se agitaban al compás de una palabra con la que expresaban un gozo y una alegría difícil de contener: ¡Hosanna!
Sabemos que aquel domingo de Ramos era el pórtico de una Semana Santa en la que muchos acontecimientos iban a tener lugar. Aquella semana comenzaba con un día de gozo e iba a terminar con un día de gloria. Pero, en medio, también el dolor, el sufrimiento, la angustia e, incluso la muerte, estarían presentes.
En el Jueves Santo, Jesús reunió a los suyos en una última cena de despedida, en el transcurso de la cual, instituiría la Eucaristía; les lavaría los pies para enseñarles que ponerse al servicio de los demás es la actitud que se espera de aquel que quiera ser su discípulo; les hablaría del mandamiento del amor como su signo distintivo, antes de ser prendido y comenzar su pasión.
El Viernes Santo estuvo teñido de la sangre de los azotes, de la cruz sobre sus hombros, de los clavos que le unieron a ella. El Sábado nos recordará su estancia en el sepulcro antes de volver de nuevo a la vida en una explosión de gozo. Así fue la primera Semana Santa de la historia. Ahora nos toca a nosotros revivirla y pensar que, lo que entonces tuvo lugar, fue por amor a todos y a cada uno de nosotros. Démosle gracias.
